James, the idea was for them to repair the chassis. It was only on inspection i found it was plates welded over.

Just to clarify, they said they would put wax oil on it, I asked them not to as I wanted to see the standard of the repair and I was planning on doing the whole thing anyway.

your distributor could have come loose and the timing could be out, this happened to me, was fiddling with the carb for ages but nothing.

We went onto do the bastard lane where a couple of the mechanics from salop 4x4 coming down said my disco wouldn't make it up. proved them wrong got up with only one tow needed! where the defender had to winch up I had no problem!! we then turned around and came back down. was a very long day...

It was done by the previous owner who had a land rover specialist do all the work. When I wax oiled the chassis I wire wheeled them back, and a good job had been done. not just plate welded over. The asking price is based on what I have spent on it, excluding labour. And other comparable vehicles.
