L322 TD6 grey and black smoke after idling

Hello all 2005 TD6, I've changed the breather filter and blanked off the EGR but I still get quite a lot of grey and black smoke if I leave the engine idling for a few minutes, it smells really diesely as well. I'm thinking it has to be an injector issue but I'd expect it to run a bit funny...

    L322 TD6 gearbox issue

Get it to about 40 degrees then bung the oil in, gotcha. ;) Which I have since done, not that it's made any discernible difference.

    L322 TD6 gearbox issue

Finally completed the gearbox oil change today It ended up being about 7 litres that came out it total, I only received 6 in the 'service kit' I did indeed find quite a lot of metal shavings in the sump, the remains of a TC lining I'm led to believe. Put new oil in and took it for a spin. Seems...

    L322 TD6 gearbox issue

It is indeed a Vogue, ok thanks, handy to know, I'm doing it all in my driveway so am at mercy to the weather currently. I dropped the oil yesterday, it's very dark and stinks but doesn't seem to have much crap in it. I haven't dropped the sump pan yet which will I'm hoping will provide...

Will do, thanks. Where is that? rear right of the engine at the bottom? (as you look at the engine from the front)

    L322 TD6 gearbox issue

No, I only gave £1300 for it privately so I was half expecting some trauma tbh. Is low voltage known to cause gearbox issues? I've got 14.1v when running but I find it very hard to believe that's causing the issue. Anyway, I'm in the process of draining the oil and getting the sump pan off...

    L322 TD6 gearbox issue

Ok I assumed it was down at 12v because some electrics would be draining it. I'll disconnect the battery, charge it then check its resting voltage. Are you sure it's supposed to be 14.8v? that seems quite high to me.

    L322 TD6 gearbox issue

I've already been looking up this problem and can certify that I have the latter type redesigned front propshaft and my battery voltage reads 14v with the engine running. Battery is only 18 months old, it read 12v with the engine off but I imagine there are many drains. is there anything to...

    L322 TD6 gearbox issue

Hello all, after a bit of advice... I was out in my 05 TD6 RR the other night and it lost drive when I came to a stop at some traffic lights, I tried shifting through P R D and manual mode, it revved up but no drive. After restarting the engine it was ok for a few minutes then threw up the...

Select neutral problem - position sensor repair.

Just thought I'd share how I overcame a problem on my 95 4.6hse, it may help someone in future. Driving along one day when it threw up a select neutral message, said slow down if moving, but putting it into neutral did nothing. Gearbox lights flashing. I tried putting it into low range and...

    Eas troubles

I suspected this as well, I'll try finding the leak soon, I reckon silicone sealant may do it. I'll be selling it soon so don't really want to fork out for a pair of new bags. Anyone found a reliable way to bodge an airbag leak? It's still randomly sitting at odd angles sometimes so I may...

    Eas troubles

Forget that last post gents, I've put the fully re-conned compressor in her with the new heat cut off switch, and she is now sitting level. Very peculiar but I'm not knocking it! I now have a near fully working p38 again, for the time being anyway. Thanks for the help.

    Eas troubles

After a bit of measuring between the tyre and the arch today I've noticed that it is just the front right that is lower than the rest of the car. I had a play with the front height sensors and noticed that the front right is different to the F left. The FR has a conical cover on it and the LH...

    Eas troubles

Thanks, I've ordered the heat switch and my old man is very handy with a soldering iron so that should be job jobbed soon. Still haven't checked the height sensors, will be getting round to that on tuesday. The thing is I'd be very surprised if it is them, I've frequently had the car at it's...

    Eas troubles

Thanks for the replies gents, I'm in Farnham, 10 miles west of guildford. You'll have to bear with me, I only started learning about the eas system properly a few days ago. I havn't had the solenoids off, I'm not sure where they are! valve block? Compressor works(manually) and has...

    Eas troubles

Hi I'm new here and after a bit of advice. Driving my 95 4.6hse the other day, she wouldn't rise to low profile and threw up a 30mph max and an eas fault message but didn't lower to bump stops. When I got home I noticed the car was at a peculiar angle, the RH side was much higher than the...

    Hello from the surrey/hampshire border

New to the forum, just thought I'd introduce myself, James in Farnham. I bought a 95 RR p38 4.6 HSE running LPG back in January. I've done enough work to it already and will shortly be asking questions regarding EAS.
