    FL1 OBD2 port

Hello, On my Freelander DI2.0 '99 there's a port that looks like an OBD2 to me: It says 348822 AMP on it. Does anybody know if it it really is OBD2? I'm thinking of buying an ELM327-WiFi to access it from my iPhone. Has anyone tried if it works? Thanks.

    FL1 Maintenance periods

Your warning is duly noted. I've changed the tensioners - that's what I meant when I said "rollers". Didn't know the technical term for that. As a matter of fact, they were pretty much spent... Also do you think changing the belts/tensioners at 50K km rather than 100K is doing it a wee too...

    high mileage

Yeah, but it'll cost half the price of what I paid for the car in the first place. So, I dunno. Even as a 2WD it's proven to be good at going up frozen slopes... And the 4x4 - doesn't it kick in only after you lose traction anyway? I see. Well, this explains it. I bought it at around 170K.

    FL1 Maintenance periods

Hullo lads. I've been having my '99 DI 2.0 for a couple of years now. I couldn't find that info in the manual, so I wonder if you would like to help me? Any advise on how often shall I change these: - Breaks fluid - Transmission fluid - Power steering fluid - Timing belt and rollers - Engine...

    high mileage

192K '99 2.0 DI. I've been having it for 2 years now. The goods: - Has exceeded expectations on reliability. - Comfy/spacy interior for the money. - Superior visibility. Cons: - Feels like driving an old car: turning the wheel needs a bit of strength, brakes are not sensitive, i.e. it brakes...

    Freelander power steering fluid

Hello, I need to top up some power steering fluid for my Freelander 2.0 turbo diesel (the rover engine). The shop in my village says I could use a Volvo 1161540 (this one being for AW50-42LE). According to the manual I need to use a dexron iid/iii compatible fluid, but I couldn't find whether...

Brake pedal goes a long way before brakes are applied

I'll certainly go to a garage, yet I think gathering some info first from other owners might be beneficial. The the truth is quite a few of the mechanics around here are not concerned very much with accurate analysis or fixing the actual source of the problem rather than "patching things up", so...

Brake pedal goes a long way before brakes are applied

I've observed no difference after pumping the pedal. I can't really test it at the moment without the engine running as there's not much flat road to accelerate/decelerate. It did feel very soft even when the engine was cold and I hadn't had the key in. After switching off the engine and...

Brake pedal goes a long way before brakes are applied

Silly me, completely forgot about the steering wheel! Could it be air though? I mean had the fluid replaced ages ago, and it's only since Friday that the pedal started going nearly all the way down. Haven't touched rear brakes at all. Parking brake never operated correctly (have to pull it all...

Brake pedal goes a long way before brakes are applied

Hi there! I got a Freelander last December. That's my first car, and I'm quite happy with it as I find it perfectly suitable for my needs - I live in a rural hilly area and there's a quarter of a mile of dirt road to go, so it's indeed most adequate. And it sort of suits my driving style...

    Freelanders in general

First, I'd like to say hello and thank you for having me in your forum! I'm a new driver an I'm planning on buying a vehicle second-hand. I live somewhat away from the city and it's hard to get home in the winter using a conventional car, so I'm definitely going for an SUV. I've read so many...
