When i lock via central locking the passenger door lock goes down then pops straight back up, it only stays down if you lock that door on its own. Is this the spring in the lock gone?

Hi guys, i have a disco 1 300tdi manual, I'm in need of changing the thermostat, i figure at the same time id do the coolant as well, can anyone advice me on the best way to do this? i don't know how to change thermostat, and i don't know how to drain the coolant. cheers Tom
