Some advice discussion needed. I have a 2.5 n/a diesel at 40,000 miles after new rings. I have recently been putting 5/40 oil in it but notice I am using about a pint every 800 miles. Very little smoke except under load, ie. flat out in fourth up steep hills and goes well. Any observations well...

What would be a good cheap engine and gearbox for a series 3 88 inch 1972? I ask because my mates petrol 2/4 is knocking and the gears are jumping out of 2nd and 3rd. Knocking is from the bottom of the engine he says, i have not heard it. It is a lovely looking machine otherwise.

concerned, help advice needed. Can I remove diesel injectors while engine warm? Symptoms are dampness around injectors. Got new washers went to fit and injector is in there solid. Moves but will not lift out. Will the engine being warm cause this?:confused:
