What did you do with your Range Rover today

Bit of a mystery this ... Driving yesterday and set off and suddenly there was an almighty racket. I thought the gearbox input shaft bearing was toast. Dumped the clutch and then tried to pull away again and it was fine. Did this a few more times on the journey but at one point I kept the revs...

P38 Diesel Injector Pump & Cam Top Dead Centre?

I bet most garages would just swap it out. FIP refurb is above my grade for sure.

    P38A MAF woes

As above. A wire heats up. That has a certain resistance. If that's wrong then you're already on a hiding to nothing. As air flows over the wire the wire cools and the resistance changes. However, if the expected change doesn't match what is expected because the wire is too thick / thin /...

    P38A MAF woes

That's true. You think the wire failed? I wonder if one of those thermometers you point could pick it heating up?

    P38A MAF woes

Now that's a good question. What can we measure? Resistance? However, you would have to measure that resistance at different air-flows as resistance with no airflow may not be representative. Hair dryer?! Airline with flow meter?

It manages round corners so I think it will take it. Not ideaal but hey-ho. What's the spare like?

    ZF 4HP22/24e

Found a bolt about 20 yards away from my car. Odd thing is, the paint colour on it matches my car perfectly. Cannot see a bolt missing from any of the wings, doors or tailgate. Very odd. Of course, it may not be mine but what would be the chances of that?!

None on my diesel and nothing that looks like a mounting point anywhere. Maybe an optional extra or came along after '98?

    P38A P38 eas issues

I've known the cap on the airbag to come loose enough to leak on a brand new bag.

Tell her most of it is packaging to protect it.

    P38A MAF woes

Now the question us, how do we get this inadequate crap off the market before others become a cropper? Trading Standards?

    Might well do.

    P38A Front diff pinion wobble?

Yes, props are balanced. Never seen one looking that bad on a P38A.

Can't remember if he has petrol or diesel but the oil burner only has a rear one.

    Malfunctioning Exhaust filter

Short journeys really screw them, especially the Ford engines with Adblue. You need the revs up near 3000 rpm. A blast down the dual carriageway once a week in a low gear seemed to work for our work trucks.
