    Yay! My gearbox just exploded!

Are you challenging me Mr Grrrr? ;) Tomorrow im going over to get the replacement box out.... thatll be a trial run, at least..... except the scrapyard floor is a mess and ill probably have to do it with the car on its side if I can get the bloke who drives the teleporter to flip the car over...

    Yay! My gearbox just exploded!

One of the cars in the scrapyard is on a 51 reg, so that ll be a late gearbox anyway. im sure itll all make sense when ive got them both out and side by side. Thanks again chaps!

    Yay! My gearbox just exploded!

Without question this car is allergic to water. It gets washed and it wants to commit suicide....... last Christmas it’s wasn’t all that happy about having water in it’s cooling system ...... so it tried to kill itself then, too! oh right, flex plate or torque converter? They’re the bits...

    P38A Replacing brake lines.

You’re going to feel a lot safer on those now. I did mine a few years ago but i remember it was frightening to see how the old steel pipes just disintegrated between my fingers..... I didn’t do as nice a job of replacing them as you too did though.... might have to do them again now...

    Yay! My gearbox just exploded!

Well, if it’s not one thing it’s another...... ive not long cleanEd the p38 to within an inch of its life.... last time I did that a very large willow tree fell on it and smashed the tailgate and rear quarter to bits...... this time i was thoroughly enjoying my drive home from the chippy with...

Will my footwell lights upset my BECOM

Nice one, I’ll order some led bulbs and see what happens. Might change the bulbs in the courtesy lights to compensate for the footwell lights too...... best be kind to the old girl.....;)

Will my footwell lights upset my BECOM

Being as we’re all in lockdown I’ve taken my P38 off the road for a few weeks to make some basic improvements and repairs..... and I think it’s looking all the better for it. One thing I’ve done is fitted some footwell lamps that my car never had fitted. No loom in the car for them and I didn’t...

What colour is my Range Rover?

Armed with information like that it would be rude not to get on with it now.. nice one. ;) Trouble is, I have a habit of using what comes my way rather than setting out for exactly the right stuff in the first place. As luck would have it there is a compressor, gun and hose in my local auction...

What colour is my Range Rover?

Exactly. The car isnt worth anything. Itll probably be another couple of decades before/if it ever is worth anything. The numbers add up so no one else has lost out as a result of me owning it. So im happy to let the sleeping dogs lie..... Ive got a choice of more modern supposedly "prestige"...

What colour is my Range Rover?

Well...... all four numbers tally..... so that is a "load off". I know this isnt conclusive but theres no mention of cat c or d repair on the logbook either. Shall I spend £40 having a hpi done? or shall I spend £40 on paint and grit paper? Could this just be a factory mistake? My compressor...

What colour is my Range Rover?

workshop compressor, for spraying among other things. no. I wouldn’t have said that. There isn’t a straight, un dented, scuffed scratched or blistered panel on that car. Even the roof is caved in a little after a willow tree dropped on it....... still seems to wear its age well though, don’t...

What colour is my Range Rover?

Also, the panels Ill be replacing are currently either Oxford blue or Balmoral green..... but they arent dented and they have no electrolysis, unlike every panel on the black one..... Would you go straight to black from those two colours, or not?

What colour is my Range Rover?

you sound like youve got "previous" in these affairs....... I had a bit of trial run last summer, spraying a few panels for my VW camper outdoors, in a field, and they came out good enough. I like a nice finish and ill always try to do the best I can with what I have available but ive no desire...

What colour is my Range Rover?

Its definitely not pearl. Just a plain gloss black. Fingers crossed thatll make it easier to spray the panels at home..

What colour is my Range Rover?

If it was painted green previously they did a very thorough job. They even went as far as removing the engine and gearbox to paint the firewall and innerwings, then they rebuilt it and put the factory stickers back on. Where did you find that info, gstu?

What colour is my Range Rover?

The tan cloth trim is correct.. but I put that in my Disco years ago and put cream leather in this one. Finding the right paint for this one would be helpful though....
