Marmite, Br#xit or Low Traffic Neighborhoods

I have seen a couple of really nice Morris vans pottering around and an Anglia used by a window cleaner but you are right, far more 109’s about. I guess a business plan to trawl the internet for vehicles registered pre 1973 would fall foul of the ruling if too much reconditioning/modernising was...

Marmite, Br#xit or Low Traffic Neighborhoods

Loosely connected to the LTN evolves into ULEZ chat has anybody seen the story of a tank being driven around central London. It’s was a 1960’s tank/apc and the owner used the historic vehicle tag to do it. It would be the makings of a classic comedy sketch if those that needed to travel in and...

Marmite, Br#xit or Low Traffic Neighborhoods

She, it, thing is an Historic vehicle, 1972, according to my paperwork so hopefully/thankfully ULEZ charge exempt. I think there is going to be a lot of angst over the first six months of the trial when all avenues of consultation are supposedly open and yet already emails were not accepted for...

    Hi from saaaarf London

Such cynicism 😎 The changes around Exeter have caught many, many people out, a very poor consultation process, and fines are being issued all over the place. ULEZ is coming but I strangely feel better about it now.

    Hi from saaaarf London

Thanks. Just goes to show that to assume is dangerous business.

    Hi from saaaarf London

Blimey as simple as that. Excellent news. I did trawl through some stuff on it but the last article I read was more about fines and paying for them. I guess registration options will appear when the local authority begin to implement it. Thanks for that.

    Hi from saaaarf London

Hi, How does your landie meet the ULEZ regs may I ask? There are murmurings we might be heading the same way and the propaganda seems to be focussed on newish cars = no problems. My landie is 1972 and might cough a bit on starting occasionally but generally purrs along with no visible emissions...

Marmite, Br#xit or Low Traffic Neighborhoods

I wonder which of the three will be dubbed the most divisive in years to come? We have recently been hit with No. 3 and the division between the for and against camps is splitting what was once a pretty chilled and relaxed multi wotsit community not even down the middle. A rough estimate would...

    series 3 109 front propshaft

I don’t know if I got lucky but I had markings on the shaft and UJ’s so it was easy to line them up, albeit after a good clean with white spirit and a toothbrush. The replacement had little notches as well. Worth a look?

Need help re: 1972 Land Rover Series III!

So that’s what the underside looks like. Mine S3 was in hospital last week and I had an old Corsa as a courtesy car. It was like driving a go cart around, good fun at times, but I picked the landie up as soon as it was ready. Who needs heating, a radio, power steering and all that jazz. When you...

    Rear multileaf springs

Mine seem fine and really show up how ‘tatty’ the old ones got. What are you going to spend your paddocks brownie points on?

    ‘Leaver’ replacement time

Well the leafers went on today. My goodness it’s like riding a well sprung mattress set on a bed of marshmallows. Having a good probe and poke around whilst she was up on the ramp produced a very short jobs list for next year but work around the fuel tank might get tricky. I might be able to...

    Rear multileaf springs

I read an article on this recently. Something akin to a Tonka toy crane with moving parts went through four countries before it was boxed up in a warehouse outside Bruges. I’m trusting my new springs will be better than what we currently have wherever they have surfaced from.

    Rear multileaf springs

Rattler. On the LR workshop pages there are part numbers, prices and sometimes the make/model/manufacturer all listed. Some entries keep it vague with just ‘British made’ noted but other items are a bit more detailed. I was able to be so precise with my order I’m sure it helped secure the order...

    Rear multileaf springs

Oooerh. I have just brought a full set of 11 leafers from Paddocks partly on cost, £90 each rear, £120 each front, but they were also recommended. They also came with bushes, shackle pins and U bolts. They arrived last week and look fine but obviously the proof will be when they are fitted next...

    ‘Leaver’ replacement time

If I ever get on Desert Island Discs I’m not taking the LR Workshop stuff with me. I need time now to get my life back on track So after much research Paddocks won out and new springs, bushes and shackle bolts are on the way. I needed to spread the cost so I didn’t get any U bolts as I could get...

    ‘Leaver’ replacement time

Thanks for that. I have sent off an enquiry for 11 leafer road springs but parabolic springs are not out of the equation yet. Costs are the key thing with this project.

    series 3 swb roof lining

I took my hard top off and turned it upside down onto a blanket covered large pallet. I used some more old blankets to act as wedges to stop it rocking and secured it with rope tied to the pallet on the back corners and across the front. I had a half door sort of affair and that was zip tied...

    ‘Leaver’ replacement time

Thanks for that Shippers. I thought I had missed out on a tech breakthrough. I would not recommend the LRworkshop listings as a bedtime read to lull you to sleep.it was about 1am before it dawned on me that my life was veering off course.

    ‘Leaver’ replacement time

Thanks. That’s me up all night then. It’s interesting to see the range of prices for the same part but springs look like you get what you pay for. On the listing from LRworkshop it just says ‘front spring 11’ which is what I will be going for. Other sites are more specific and have right or left...
