    How much?!

The ford di is nothing special, and will devalue the vehicle somewhat. I think thats a bit expensive, I'd want it all complete ready to go for those readies.

    series as a daily??

before you fit a disco engine and box, check the boring legislation stuff first, there are rules about such things, you might loose the registration. If its just the motor and box then you'll be ok. Smithy was right you might be better with summat else, if you've only got the cash to run an...

HELP PLEASE - just got the MOT drove it on the drive and

Disconnect the thick wire on the starter that comes from the battery and tape it up temporarily, then unplug the connector off the alty. Quickly 'flash' the battery connection to earth again, if theres still a boat load of sparks then theres a wire rubbed through (unlikely but could also be a...

    fuse box

CPC.co.uk which conveniently is around the corner from me, but they do mail order, do a fuse box thats about the same as the landy one and it has blade fuses and has 1/4 spade connections like the landy, they also have a screw on cover to help stop the contacts from oxidising, I've used them on...

    No 4WD!

Its not a hard job, depending what wheels you have you dont even have to remove them. Just undo the 5 or 6 bolts on the drive flange and prize out the flange and the half shaft comes with, if spilling a bit of oil bothers you then remove the plug and drain the diff first. It'll be obvious if...

Series 3, 109" Ex army Truck Rear Springs

:welcome2: Cant help much on your question though, 'cept if you change the bushes your in for a heck of a job. I didnt think 1 toner springs fitted the chassis, obviously do. Paddocks/cradocks do springs, but dont fit britpart springs, they have a rep for being crap.

2.25 Diesel Cold Starting Major Issues

You could allways nick your mrs's leccy blanket, put it under the engine heat rises.

    No 4WD!

Have you actually taken out both halfshafts and checked them, its an easy job. Oxides has a point the diff would clank and bang if it were fecked. Writhing about on the snow first and having a look underneath and checking the prop shaft ought to be the first job.

    Series III 200TDI Project

Looks tidy 83 series. Azz you dont have to do it the same as me however I used a TD5 intercooler, it seems to fit a lot better, its much wider, in fact wider than the rad, the pipes to it stick out each side of the rad when its in place as on the TD5. I used the disco top rad mounting plate...

    Defender/Series chasis Width?

Right get that now, the deffy mounts bolt directly onto the chassis rails, you didnt fasten up to the series box mounts, kinda makes sense the op was about if the rails were the same width or not. If you used the same prop shaft then you'dve probably move the engine up 100mm as the deffy box is...

2.25 Diesel Cold Starting Major Issues

Have to argue about the easystart jim. The detonation from the ether igniting peens over the top of the piston gripping the top ring, causing it to break when the engine warms up, lowering the compression and 'addicting' the engine. Only use easy start if your stuffed miles away or late for...

    Defender/Series chasis Width?

Jim, more info on the 'box swap, are you saying that the lt77 just bolts straight onto the series chassis?

Yet another Series 3 200TDI project

As you may allready know I have a 300tdi in a 109. The exhaust fanimold is in a better position to fit, however the pressure outlet from the compressor side of the turbo fouls on the bracket for the wing, at least on mine, the 300tdi turbo has a clamp that can be loosened and the...

    engine trouble

The 1.5D is popular in canal boats, which is the same motor as was in the morris oxford and a couple others, it was called the captain engine in marine guise (theres also a rare high output version called the tempest). A larger version was also made in 2.25 and 2.5 and a couple other odd sizes...

2.25 Diesel Cold Starting Major Issues

So long as she's antifreezed I bet all will be ok. Might be worth putting summat behind the grille this weather, the heater will work better and she wont get as cold at night. I used to put an old trench coat over the engine on mine when I got home from work, kept enough heat in overnight.

If its the same one I looked at I'd have paid 3 times that and still been happy, the geyser wanted nearly 3 grand. Either not the same one or he's realised he wasnt gonna get in. Sounds like you did a good deal there. What kind of work does it need?

    No 4WD!

Hi again, Dont jack the diff in my opinion a deffo no no, you'd be stressing the axle in a way its not meant to and if you slip you'll squish the front plate of the diff its only 1.5mm. Jack up one side of the landy and support it on some wooden blocks on the main chassis rails just behind the...

    which series?

You'd probably be better getting a series 3 as you'd be able to get summat that was roadworthy and ready to go for that, whereas a s2 allthough more desireable for that price would need plenty of work, unless your lucky and find someone skint. Elwoods offer dunt sound that bad if its a sound motor.
