    Boot floor

Getting some paint on the chassis is one of the jobs on the list :) For some reason it's only scabby on the inside of both rear spring mounts, the rest seems to be absolutely fine, probably just the fact those sections are inaccessible for washing. Fabricated the sections using the same...

    Boot floor

Yeah could of done that I suppose, I work away a lot so I bought the boot replacement panel a couple of weeks ago from Island 4x4 when I knew the job needed to be done - don't have a lot of time to get to steel stockholders unfortunately (with the exception of today, to get the box section...)...

    Boot floor

Quick update: Salvaged both main crossmembers, one needed patching. Obtained two lengths of rectangular box section which I'm going to use to replace the thin 'straps' the floor is also supported by. I've fabricated all the repair sections to sit around the edge of the floor, I will plug weld...

    Boot floor

Good suggestion - when I stripped out the interior out I was surprised to see that both of the wheel wells/arches were in pretty good nick, boot floor and surround was totally gone though. There is a bit of rot on the top of the pass side arch (you can see a brown stain in the photo) but I...

    Buying a Disco 3

Change in tax was in early 2006 I think - the www.direct.gov.uk/motoring website will tell you exactly when.

    Boot floor

A little something to keep me occupied for the weekend...I've had to completely cut out the flange around the edge of the boot floor panel and will need to fabricate new sections and weld them to the side panels (which thankfully are solid). Salvaged both of the thicker crossmembers, the...

Has Anyone Got A Photo of A 300tdi With Rear Outside Quarter Removed?

Is the rear quarter panel removal a difficult job? I need to replace the rear wheel arch section on the pass side of my 5dr Disco and need to bring the quarter away from the body a little for access. I can see some random blobs of weld which appear to be holding it on in places, is it also...

    engine movement

Could well be that, one way to check (and I've used this to good effect in the past) is to put the car in 1st gear (with handbrake on!) and slowly bring the clutch to biting point - have an assistant observe the engine mounts when you do this to see if there is excessive movement in any of them.

Bolt-on panel sealant for front wings.

You could use that, I personally use Sikaflex adhesive sealant for panel bonding.

    Thinking of buying a discovery

A lot depends on the type of usage they have had throughout their lifetime - for instance if they've spent a lot of time by the sea there is a good chance corrosion will be bad, if the previous owners haven't kept the chassis and bodywork clean of mud/salt it is also likely they have corroded...

    disco 2 dislocation cones?

First question: not sure. Second question: an extended bump stop basically limits the amount of axle articulation possible. If you've raised the suspension it is advisable to fit extended bump stops to stop stress on brake lines and fouling of bodywork by wheels etc (or...fit extended brake...

    Chewed up accessory belt!

Ok...got this sorted out. The 'replacement' water pump I fitted (from a local LR independent) located the pulley a few mm closer to the engine block than it should have done...I've used some thick washers between the pulley and pulley mounting to bring it back out to the correct position and...

    fook me

Interesting how the advert makes no mention of the fact the car is smashed to f**k. Must be a category B write off with that damage, so £7900+VAT for the engine and running gear (provided that hasn't been damaged as well!)
