    Is this legal?

Not quite. You're right in that it's a big square, but you only have to be able to see it from within the triangle that's marked out by the diagonal from the number plate. I'm just paraphrasing the law. If you can see the number plate from anywhere along the back of the square, you will...

    Is this legal?

Not if you step backward 22 meters first.

    Is this legal?

I think that probably is illegal. If you park your landy in a big flat open car park, and stand right behind your landys number plate. Walk backward for 22 meters so that you're standing exactly 22 meters behind the point directly below the middle of your number plate. Then, side step exactly...

    Lite guard instal clip thingies?

Mine look different to those at the top. It's kind of a flat bar that the screws go through into a riv nut. The bottom is just P clips.

    Defender: dual-battery issue (charging)

I wouldn't worry about it. I think you're over thinking all this battery stuff. I'm sure that in theory if the plates are exposed to air and are not submerged in the acidic solution (I.e. when the battery is tilted, it probably can cause some corrosion or something. Equally, it's probably not...

    Bf goodrich mt?

I bought bf goodrige ATs a year or so ago. I did a lot of shopping around at the time and in the end went to craddocks. I wasn't planning on new rims at the time, but from the prices I had for the tyres and then to have a local garage fit them to my wheels, it turned out to only be about 40quid...

Electrical problem - suddenly lost speedo, fuel, indicators.

I think Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin in a similar way :)

    Bushwires

I'm skeptical. Without seeing a picture, Id bet that its not illegal unless it falls foul of some construction and use law, or some EU safety based legislation. They have banned homemade bull bars after all, on account of public safety, but only after a certain date of vehicle. I'm sure it...

Electrical problem - suddenly lost speedo, fuel, indicators.

Check your indicators to make sure they are not full of rain water. I had a re-occurring problem like this once which turned out to be that.

    Defender: dual-battery issue (charging)

Ok so Berlin is quite away away for most of us to stop by and give you a hand. I you're miles away from home, just get a jump start and drive home. As long a your alternator is is good shape, you should be fine once it's started to get you home ok. And hopefully it will charge your main battery...

    Defender: dual-battery issue (charging)

If its really flat, I'd say to put it on charge also. Although, make sure your charger has a battery recovery function. I bought one from sainsburys which is brilliant because of this function. It cost about 12 quid at the time, and is much better than my two previous (much much more expensive...

    Ignition switch wiring

All solid brown wires are unfused battery live (I.e. directly connected to the battery). All solid white wires are unfused switched live (I.e. the output of the ign switch. When the switch is turned to position 2 or crank, it connects the input brown wire to the output white wire). The white...

    Battery Connectors

Anderson do them, and so do durite. I bought a coupe of 175amp Anderson ones which were quite expensive, but then found the durite ones at farnell that were much cheaper and exactly the same. I didn't bother with an isolator on my jump lead setup. But would definitely isolate a winch. I...

Wiring problem - can anyone identify these wires?

White with grey? Are you sure it's not white with a purple trace?

    Trailer Test Experiences

Just good practice I think. My instructor wasn't against me being stopped with the foot brakes on, in gear and the clutch down if I was about to pull away fairly soon, just not if a pedestrian walks in front of you whilst you're stopped. As I said, it was just all about being the safest person...

    Trailer Test Experiences

Did mine last August/September time. Passed first time with three minors. I think you are allowed up to 15 minors but no majors. The test consists of eye test, the reversing manoeuvre, unhitch and re-hitch (along with a pretend check over of the trailer for dodgy tyres and road worthiness)...

    Educate me about rear PTOs

Wow, that is proper old kit. Quite like the idea of mowing it and turning it if I can find the right kit cheap. That baler looks enormous though. Think I'm gonna have to give this some more thought.

    Bonnet pull cable length?

I have a spare alr9556 in the garage that I haven't gotten round to putting on. It's approx 69inches from cable tip to the face of the handle. Maybe 70 if I pulled it dead straight next to my tape measure. The tip of the cable is about 5 to 6 inches exposed before the sheath starts.

    Educate me about rear PTOs

I'll have about four acres to do when the time comes. Do you think that's too much to do manually in this way? What kind of bailer would I need though. And when you say donkey engine, what do you mean exactly?
