What have you done to your Landie today.

Did a couple of finishing touches after the 200TDi conversion (bonnet catch, numberplate, sorting interior etc) and then did a pre MOT check. Nothin serious looks wrong, just found a couple of dodgy bulbs/connections/switches which I sorted so fingers crossed for the test this week :rolleyes...

Disco 200TDi into 2.5TD Defender progress

Yep I'm really looking forward to seeing what it's like on a proper run :) Re Disco back axle; Do you mean because of the disc brakes? My next job is to dismantle the Disco for parts so I may keep the axle for the 90...

That's exactly what it is so I guess you've nicked one in the past ;) (actually borrowed from my neighbour who probably nicked it - lol!)

    Guess Who's Joined the Partaaaaay!

Hi Pos Mine was going to be a quick swap too but in the end I decided to do it thoroughly and replace clutch, rear crank oil seal, etc etc as I didn't want to be pulling the engine out again in a few weeks if something gave up the ghost - I would've kicked myself! As for how long it will...

    200TDi Pipeworks

Hi Pos Well today I've eventually finished my 200TDi conversion and just got round to updating the thread with a load of piccies which should help. As it's fresh in my head then just give me a shout if you want any advice. Anyway, in the end I went back to using the original TD header tank and...

Disco 200TDi into 2.5TD Defender progress

Yippee!!! I've finally completed the conversion today and test driven the 90 out of the garage and up and down the lane :D:D:D:D:D I've just copied some pics off the camera as I know we all like piccies here :) New downpipe fitted. Old TD flywheel fitted to 200TDi Britpart rear crank oil...

Parkwood 4x4 at Tong 15 Nov.

Yep I can recommend it too :D I went for the first time a couple of months after I got my 90 and it really showed me what it was capable of. My advice would be to read up on some off road techniques first if you're new to it, take it steady, and gradually try more difficult stuff as your skills...

Questions for anyone with a Disco 200TDi in their Defender

Thanks for all the info :) Both header tanks seem to fit ok so I'll see which is easier to do by extending the pipes (probably depends what bits I've got lying around). The air filter looks more difficult though as there's not much space in there! I think the TD filter will fit with some...

Questions for anyone with a Disco 200TDi in their Defender

Well I'm in the final stages of my engine conversion (had it running now at least :D) but got a couple of questions for anyone else with a Disco 200TDi fitted to their Defender. 1. Header tank - Is the Disco tank used or the old Defender one? Also, using which hose? I've tried a couple of...

Disco 200TDi into 2.5TD Defender progress

Yep I've found your instructions to be invaluable while doing this conversion so a MASSIVE thanks for your write up. :D:D:D I've done things a little differently in a couple of places and also used some other guides for cross reference but it really is excellent. So all this info and of course...

Disco 200TDi into 2.5TD Defender progress

Sorry for the lack of updates so here is the last couple of weeks worth in one large post... With the 200TDi out of the car I removed the flywheel cover and fitted the old TD flywheel cover instead. This avoids any headaches with non-matching studs/bolts and I reckon is much easier than...

    200TDi

Yep no probs if you want to come and take a look at what is involved. I need to update my progress thread really but have had a long day at work so will try do that tomorrow for you. The 200TDi is now in the 90 (took a while to mate gearbox and engine last night but that's another story!) and...

    200TDi

Hi Pos As I'm nearing completion on mine (At the mo I'm just waiting for a mate to appear to help me mate the 200TDi to the bellhousing) then I can hopefully be some help. I bought a complete Disco and recommend this way to do it as a)you can give the engine a test drive etc first, b)you have...

    help!!!!

My 90's old TD engine died a couple of months ago too and I'm currently in the process of fitting a 200TDi out of a Disco. If you're fairly handy with a spanner then you can do it DIY. Although I'm no mechanic then I'm not finding things too bad with the help of Landyzone and a few "how-to's"...

How to fit 200TDi rear crank oil seal?

Yep don't worry, I'm double checking EVERYTHING as I go along now! :) Gonna take some time off work tomorrow so hopefully things will progress nicely now  I'm really hoping I can get the engine fitted and started up by tomorrow night :D

How to fit 200TDi rear crank oil seal?

Well I just took an hour off, went and collected the genuine LR seal (26 quid rather than a fiver for the Britpart!) and got it fitted. I did some headscratching about the plastic bit that comes with it and which way round things fitted but sussed it out in the end. I fitted the metal ring...

How to fit 200TDi rear crank oil seal?

Thanks for all the info. Typically all I could get on Saturday morning was the Britpart seal (as I was hoping to get the engine in and running over the weekend, obviosuly didn't happen!) but having been advised against these from a few people a genuine LR one has just been ordered and will be...

How to fit 200TDi rear crank oil seal?

I'm currently putting a 200TDi from a Disco into my Defender. I just wanted to check what is the correct way to fit a 200TDi rear crank oil seal? The old one in the flywheel housing was an absolute git to remove. It was stuck to the housing so had to be chipped off bit by bit with a chisel to...
