Disco 2 aircon fan running - hawkeye?

Hi all, had an overheat a few weeks back and the aircon fan locked on as it is designed to do.. Reading through several posts, I understand you need a proper code reader to disable/Reset. (tried a local indie but he hadn't heard of it before and wanted £40 to clear and codes it was showing...

Disco 2 DTCs - any thoughts?

Any advice which amounts to "if it ain't broke", is my favourite kind .. I'll leave the loom for now and keep an eye open for a decent but of diagnostic kit, then I'll have a better idea of any real problems. As I say the car is running as well as it ever has, I'm just trying to make sure I...

Disco 2 DTCs - any thoughts?

Thanks for all the advice, luckily I'm not in a particular rush , going to keep an eye out for what's around second hand.. Even so, I might consider changing the injector loom, unless someone tells me different, it just feels like a few of those errors could be down to that and with it...

Disco 2 DTCs - any thoughts?

Hear what you're saying about nanocom and if, they were the same price there'd be no question, but I'm on the fence about paying £300 for a hawkeye for a 16 year old car and the only way I can really justify that is with it covering other landrovers so will future proof me for the next one...

Disco 2 DTCs - any thoughts?

Thanks for response, doesn't surprise me that the i930, isn't as functional given the gap in price, but it has been useful over the years, at least in clearing different flashing lights ..so had my monies worth. I've been through the ac diagnostic, but get 00 so no fault that end , my...

Disco 2 DTCs - any thoughts?

Hi all, after owning my D2 for 8 years, she's been really good to me, but I've had a few issues over the last couple of weeks.. which I think, with help from this forum, are now sorted. It's got me thinking I should be showing her a little more tlc. I have a cheaper diagnostic icarsoft i930...

    Disco 2 Coolant loss?

Rad pipes not hard, so hoping that's good news .. Have only had to top up slightly in the last couple of days, so could still be my initial thought of it being air in the system. I followed refill instructions, raised tank, filled slowly although clearly that's a bit subjective.. Only thing...

    Disco 2 Coolant loss?

Love a bit of knowledge.. Thanks for that, very good to know (for me anyway, the missus has banned me from talking about giant torque wrenches or variations in rads, coolant mixtures etc..) the fpr was one of the first jobs i did a few years back, it was a 3 pipe. .and having just done the...

    Disco 2 Coolant loss?

Thanks for advice, I strapped a bottle to the overflow pipe, doesn't look like it's coming from there. Car is 2002, not sure how to establish if 10p?..will see if I can find and check pipe behind turbo tomorrow, still hoping not hg of course. .but will check how hard hoses are, would be...

    disco 2 flat battery ??

Might be worth checking your alternator too, if you have a multi-meter or know someone who has, mine outputs at about 14v. As above though I'm sure they'd check that if you have it tested .

    Disco 2 Coolant loss?

Hi all, but of a puzzler.. I recently had an overheat and ended up changing the rad .. It wasn't without a few hiccups and I did need to cap a pipe on the radiator, but I'm fairly sure that's OK . Thing is I've driven a few times since completing the job over the last few days maybe 30miles in...

    D2 tapping, crankshaft pulley?

Update.. Fingers crossed, with some great advice from this forum and some perseverance I think I'm there.. Not without a few bumps in the road though, so for anyone who faces similar breakdown, here's how it went for me. . Drive belt and idle pulley went and took the crankshaft pulley with...

    D2 radiator replacement.. Nightmare!

Looks like capping the additional pipe has done the trick, used 8cm of 16mm radiator hose with a wheel bolt covered in sealant and jubilee clips.. Driven for a couple of days with no leaks so fingers crossed. Have informed the seller that he might want to update his listing to make it clear this...

    D2 radiator replacement.. Nightmare!

I guess my own fault then for relying on discrption in sellers ad which stated it would fit all td5 99-04.. Even so, anyone got a reason as to why just blanking the redundant pipe myself wouldn't work? Thanks

    D2 radiator replacement.. Nightmare!

Afternoon all .. not sure if anyone can help with my situation , it's starting to shake my normally cheery disposition.. Long story short (ish).. blew my drive belt a few weeks back and that's led to me changing that and the crankshaft pulley.. After some sage advice from this forum and some...

    D2 tapping, crankshaft pulley?

That's really helpful, yeah bolt lugs still in place so will try the steel bar and a couple of holes to hold pulley .. Otherwise like the idea of using the engine to undo assuming I can properly brace the braker bar! Assume you stopped the engine firing somehow? Disconnect fuel pump or...

    D2 tapping, crankshaft pulley?

Yup, thought as much gonna order one today.. Anyone done the job? I know I'm going to need to lay hands on a serious torque wrench, but I've seen a few people suggesting it can be done without removing the radiator as the manual suggests? Just out of curiosity should the pulley spin between the...
