Thanks sofasurfer mines a prc4612 which are very difficult to find now and I still can't get the old one out. Any further hammering is likely to shatter rear screen and/or distort door panel.

No it looks as though the inner diameter of the sleeve is slightly larger than the hole for the spindle which enables the sleeve to separate the inner from the outer metal of the door. Methinks I might need a bigger hammer.

Thanks mojo have tried the land rover universal adjuster approachave but worried I don't want to irreparably damage it. I think these old motors are ridiculously priced now (£450 ish). Tried mole grips on the sleeve but no joy.

Hello 1991 defender 90 having problems removing rear wiper motor so hoping someone can advise. Motor runs a bit slow, gets quite warm and is a bit "clunky". Have tried getting some wd40 down the spindie from outside but to no avail. Anyway wanted to remove the motor to give it an overhaul...

Thanks for that Kwakerman. I'm seeing 5v on the connector which I think is what it should be however the new sensor is not giving a reading on the ohmeter so now wondering if I've bought a Dudd? I was expecting to see a few ohms which change with the temp?

Yes that's on the list, any thoughts on what I should be testing for on the two wires leading to the water temperature sensor on the top of the head?

just to close this out - in the end it was a faulty control unit, the one that piggy backs onto the interior fuse box (under the steering wheel). Changed the unit for a second hand one and all good - thanks to all for suggestions
