    Caveat Emptor

Looks hideous, but someone thought it was a good idea. There will be someone else out there who agrees but they need to have £30K burning a hole in their pocket or else that dealer is going to be stuck with that for a while I'd say!

Steering Locks - do you use them?

I'm using an old Krooklock too. I had it in my old campervan which was broken into once, 'they' smashed the cowling from around the steering column but either gave up or got disturbed. The Krooklock definitely helped in that case. I think I'll order one of those £5 clamps too, can only help.

Defender 90 low emission zone defiance

I found when looking for an ex MOD Landy that some are compliant, some aren't - exactly the same type etc. Any petrol engine Landy is fine, it just affects diesels. As said, if the registration document says Estate or Convertible then it's compliant. If it says Utility then it's not. Quite a...

    Want to learn to weld

Thanks for the advice - I think I'd want at least some guidance before 'going it alone' but I'll check out the You Tube stuff. I'm not going to be doing this soon, more a project for next year. I've got a tatty old spare Safari door with a rusty frame so could practice on that part first!

    Want to learn to weld

Hi, As a recent Landy owner I think it could be helpful to learn some basic welding techniques for down the line when I try to tackle some minor repairs to door frames or the bulkhead. I must admit I'm pretty clueless about whether MIG or TIG 'best' to learn or how to go about it. I've done...

Radiator on FFR 110 that's not FFR any more!

2.5n/a. FFR versions only, had the oil cooler apparently.

Radiator on FFR 110 that's not FFR any more!

Hi, it's the type with a separate oil cooler rad mounted in front.

Radiator on FFR 110 that's not FFR any more!

Hi, my 110 is a FFR spec but the 24v electrics have been removed. It has the oil cooler fitted which I understand was only fitted to the FFR to help with cooling when the vehicle would be stationary for long periods of time with the engine running to power to comms kit. Is it possible to remove...

    Defender 90 as a camper?

Or an old ambulance, lights and windows fitted, maybe even a stretcher bed! I had a campervan and lovely though it was I never really used it unless I was going camping. With all the fitments they're very heavy and you don't really want to be driving about in a fitted kitchen if you don't have...

    Defender 90 as a camper?

I recently bought a 110 ex MOD hard top with the intention of using it as a part time camper. . My plan was to line it in ply, fit a campervan cooker/sink pod unit one side plus storeage space and a fold down section the other side to use as a bed (with a memory foam mattress or similar. I was...

How to get military vehicle Merlin report

Here's my recent experience looking for the info on my '86 110. I sent two emails to different direct addresses (which I'd picked up from the forums) and didn't get any response. I then sent a request via the https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/ website, and received a response with a link to a...

    1st Landy & bulkhead issue

I’ve decided to bite the bullet and get the bulkhead done before picking it up, thanks for the feedback.

    1st Landy & bulkhead issue

Hi all, Buying my first Landy, a 110. I’ve spent about a year on n off looking! The one I’m buying is MOT’d and all solid apart from crusty corners on the bulkhead (small rust holes). The seller can sort this for me fitting the repair panels for £500 which sounds reasonable, or I could live...

Seen this ad - is crankcase pressure a 'usual' thing?

Thanks think I'll pass on that one then.

Seen this ad - is crankcase pressure a 'usual' thing?

Seen this one on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ex-MOD-110-Land-Rover-1986/222700141378?hash=item33d9f67b42:g:P6EAAOSwonBZ-EPN Bit concerned about the crankcase pressure issue, also the wiring sounds an odd problem. Any advice welcome.

Opinions from ex military Landy owners please

Unfortunately I hesitated a bit too long and the Landy I viewed had sold. Doh! My search continues, ideally for a petrol model so LEZ isn't a worry at all. I'm searching ebay, autotrader and Gumtree regularly, but are there any other less obvious sources of potential vehicles? I'd like an ex...

Opinions from ex military Landy owners please

Damn it guys, you're pushing me very near the edge! LOL Some research throws up issues with temp gauges and that they ground through the body so it could be a faulty connection or faulty gauge (assuming the other checks have been done). Seller has apparently replaced the sender and fan, and...

Opinions from ex military Landy owners please

I'm told it's definitely not overheating although the temp gauge reads high & might be faulty. Sound plausible? What mpg would I expect from a 2.5n/a engine in general use? 25? I'm close to pulling the trigger on this...
