Lots of opinions on the CAT/MOT subject at the moment. I fitted a de-cat pipe last year and passed my MOT this week. I'm back at the MOT station on Saturday for some parts so I'll try to ask the tester. At least my MOT cert is safe at home if he changes his mind :D

Very little difference at all. Not sure if all the Jap cars are EDC but the only real concern would be trying to replace the 4th injector with the built in sensor. These are needed by the EDC ECU but are like rocking horse poo to find.

Interlock means you need ignition on and brake pedal pressed before you can take it out of Park. Also (this may be the Jap-only bit) you can't remove the ignition key unless the gearbox in in park. I had to pull the small multiplug off the ignition barrel as this 'feature' stopped me getting...

Yes, jack the body as high as you can and the downpipe is easily removed/replaced. Changed my whole exhaust last year and didn't touch the cross member.
