    Southdown Snorkel with safari plumbing

Very neat. I fitted a Southdown to my Jap Import a couple of months ago and also plan to fit a second battery so I know I'll need to move the flexi from the front. What stopped me from using the side connector like you have was that I thought the MAF sensor would hit the EGR. Although my EGR...

    Fitting HD Springs?

No reason not to do springs now as shocks later other than the fact that's you'll effectively be doing the job twice. The rears will be easy as the springs and shock are separate but the front means removing the whole assembly twice. I've heard the same stories about Britpart springs but lots...

My first Land Rover - tow car!

Lots of opinions on the CAT/MOT subject at the moment. I fitted a de-cat pipe last year and passed my MOT this week. I'm back at the MOT station on Saturday for some parts so I'll try to ask the tester. At least my MOT cert is safe at home if he changes his mind :D

My little project on jap Disco 1

Very little difference at all. Not sure if all the Jap cars are EDC but the only real concern would be trying to replace the 4th injector with the built in sensor. These are needed by the EDC ECU but are like rocking horse poo to find.

My little project on jap Disco 1

If I'm honest I didn't notice any difference in performance, but that just means the original downpipe wasn't blocked up with soot. I didn't see any real difference when I blanked the EGR either. Most people see a big difference with both of the above but at least I know I won't have an issue...

My little project on jap Disco 1

The only difference with the exhaust is that there is an extra 'box' in the downpipe after the flexi joint, not sure exactly what it is cat? dpf? but it's not needed. Passed MOT this week without it. A 'sports' system will fit OK as that's what I've fitted to mine. I went for the one with a...

    Can we still decat?

Will the VIN give all the build info for Jap Imports as well ? (I know they were built here and shipped out). Reason I ask is that my 300tdi passed this week and I fitted a decat pipe last year, not sure if the box was a cat of a dpf but it passed without it.

    safari snorkel

I think the 300tdi and the V8 have the same airbox so as long as you get the ABS version I think it will fit. I was about to order one of the 'safari style' ones but read a thread on here about the amount of modifying that the parts needed in order to fit and that put me off. I ordered a...

Interlock means you need ignition on and brake pedal pressed before you can take it out of Park. Also (this may be the Jap-only bit) you can't remove the ignition key unless the gearbox in in park. I had to pull the small multiplug off the ignition barrel as this 'feature' stopped me getting...

My little project on jap Disco 1

My Jap import has no extra amp (that I can see) but I'm the 2nd UK owner so it may have been removed. The downpipe had what looked like a DPF and a flexi joint (not sure how this differs from UK) but I've replaced with a solid defender decat item now. It does have a water cooled EGR though...

    Exhaust

I'm not sure if there are performace parts (assuming you're planning to fit a decat pipe anyway) but you could fit stainless steel if you really wanted to.
  17. RichardH

    Front cross member bolts

Yes, jack the body as high as you can and the downpipe is easily removed/replaced. Changed my whole exhaust last year and didn't touch the cross member.

    Exhaust down pipe

I replaced the whole exhaust on my 300tdi Jap import last year. £75 from ebay, solid downpipe (possibly the part number that James mentioned, think it's a defender item without the flexi), straight pipe to replace the middle box and a single backbox. Took me less than 2 hours from start to...
