Should I upgrade to a newer landy ?

My local independent says that he is really busy with farmers coming in with their TD5s and TDCIs and seeking to sell them to swap for TDIs that they then get reconditioned with galv chassis and new bulkheads etc... The farmers want to TDIs as they are easier to fix and reliable so they are just...

clutch fluid level 90 Defender 300TDI

tip: put a piece of rubber hose on the bleed nipple coz when you are lying on your back undoing it whilst someone pumps the peddle in the cab you will get some of the fluid in your face if you do not use the rubber hose.....I wear specs and still have a working eye but only coz I wear specs.

    Viscous fan nightmare

Did mine with standard spanner - make sure you know which way is undoing it and then give it a sharp hard smack with a lump hammer (and I mean harder that you think or your logic would allow you to normally do to an engine!) When I did this it undid immeditly.

    90 vibrates

Yep, the vibration started at or around 40 and only went away if I went below 40 or took my foot of the gas. The MOT had given me an advisory for worn UJ bearings a few months back and I knew it needed doing so I assumed that was the cause and wanted to replace them anyway. The new prop has...

    90 vibrates

Hi - I had a vibration at 40mph and changed the UJ's on the front prop - well actually I ended up changing the whole front prop because when I tried to replace the UJs I found it really hard to get the new bearing cup into one of the yolks and had to use so much force that the neddle bearings...

    90 heaters!

They take a while to get hot because the engines are mostly diesel and over cooled. I removed the sucking air thru my radiator as the 90 does not seem to need it anyway which helps it get warmer quicker. When I got mine it was fitted with a pre-heater that you pluged into the mains on a timer...

    Help fitting fuel lift pump

I do not know if the pump is driven by lifting the arm or not. If it is driven by lifting the arm then the arm sits onto of the cam, if it is driven by dipping the arm then it sits beneath the cam. Can you help?

    Help fitting fuel lift pump

Looked at busters guide, got old fuel pump off my 200 tdi easy enough. New pump has a longer arm and a plastic spacer which I assume I need to use to keep the arm inside the engine the same length as the old one. Stuck my pinky into the hole and can feel a cam which I assume drives the...
