I did mine in a weekend on my own. Tools I used were a big hammer, trolley jack, normal sockets and spanners etc. A 4" angle grinder came in very handy in cutting through some of the old bolts as the shocks just turned. I also cut through the front springs so they dropped out of the way...

Been there and needed new underpants as well. My stub axle had part of the bearing stuck fast and needed a grinder to take it off, the rest of the bearing had disintegrated. I check them all regularly now.

Another vote for the angle grinder, I got a cheap one for under £20 to do mine, wear goggles as I had a lump of bearing shatter and it hit me, sparks embedded in the eye is no fun either.
