    Disco 3 MPG dropping

IF it was chipped any figures off the trip-meter any likely false. Use a pencil n paper or summat to keep note of fuel/milage to get an accurate figure. Would expect the dealer to tell you about anything done to engine tho`. When in dealers did they adjust h-brake .. too much?

Sorry - Yet another EAS question!

Going up and down by itself can be a failing driver pack. I think you can only check by substitution? Would be happy to be corrected on that tho`!

    Range Rover newbie - advice

Great cars when they`re on song... but as Datatek says they are not for the faint hearted. Most repairs are diy-able, with some money and lots of time, but will cost a fortune at a main-dealer. Insurance/running costs are not low. Ever. Only you can decide if it`s worth it..

    Dse 1996

Try to test pump in the tank by connecting 12v acroos it. If it is working, you will need to fault find the supply to it. The system is self bleeding from FIP (on engine) to injectors. Make sure you have a good battery before doing any work as a battery running flat when cranking over engine can...

    Disco 3 MPG dropping

Diesel/petrol? Auto/manual? MPG figures off of trip meter or real? Tyre pressures good answer, also jack each wheel in turn to check for binding brakes, with front wheels chocked jack up rear and spin rear prop to check for binding hand-brake. If petrol, (unlikely at 30mpg!) pull coupla plugs...

P38 transfer box and rear propshaft

I may be mis-understanding this but; with front prop removed all the drive will, as you say go thro` the VC, it will therefore be (over a period of time) over-work / over heat the VC. I don`t reckon this is good on a vehicle likely to have lots of miles & maybe coming up for a new VC anyway...

Disco 1 = easier to work on?

For what it`s worth, I`ve recently sold my P38, after 5years, and chosen a 300tdi rather than a TD5 because I want ease of diy maintenance. A 300tdi will be older and a little less economical on fuel than a TD, but could well be cheaper over a long period of ownership. Not a costed out argument...

    Injector light on deceleration

I had same problem as you, seemed worse when engine warm, but in cold weather. Anyway was recommended to change no4 injector (after reading faults Testbook). No change. Went for FIP full recon and no problems since.

P38 transfer box and rear propshaft

Removing front prop is ok, but removing rear prop is surely going to mean that ALL drive is going thro` the VC? Not recommended! Morse chain not accessable without dropping transfer box. I bought a Morse chain to swop over when I did my VC unit, but although the VC was a pain-free job, in...

    300tdi steering wheel

Thanks for the answer, even if it`s not what I was hoping for. Ta, for link too, BUT I`ve already ordered that boss, and sent it back as it does NOT fit. Got a refund , but not best pleased. Mine has no air-bag. Just don`t like feel of disintigrating rubber under my fingers.

    p38 fuel pump problem

Sounds like a problem with your pump or the plumbing to it then. Dunno if you did a "by the book job", or cut a hole in the floor, but sounds like the pump will have to come out for checking. Dunno if anyone else has any ideas before you go to that effort tho??

    p38 fuel pump problem

Take fuel filter off, put empty jar or similar under it and turn on ign. This should show if/not the pump is ok. If fuel is reaching filter (lots with good flow) then look further into system. Try cracking off injector pipes to see if fuel reaching there. (only use correct tools so as not to...

    Door Spring Lock Tool

Having just fitted my rear door with a new spring, (many thanks to writers of previous threads), I can offer the following tip. To fit the fiddly little spring into the holes I made up a simple tool. A strip of 1mm aluminuim about 10cm x 2cm with one end tapered down to 5mm, and a small notch...

    300tdi steering wheel

My wheel is worn on the grip. Given their age so are most/all wheels from breakers. I`ve tried getting a boss to fit an aftermarket wheel but no luck, so a lace-up leather glove it`s gotta be. I don`t want to fit a 200 wheel, but have found a glove to fit one so I want to check that the...

    300tdi steering wheel

Hi All. I`ve given up on trying to get a replacement steering wheel for my `98 300tdi Disco. Thinking on just covering it with one of those lace up leather covers. Anyone recommend one? Found one on fleabay but it`s marked as for the 200tdi, and I don`t know If the rim on the 200 is the same as...
