    Losing power

Yes it is a LHD with a 2.25 engine. That sounds logical according to where I believe the clicking noise came from. If the hand brake is not releasing totally why would that cause her to lose power ? It make sense to me why it drags or very little power but why cutting off ( like it's going to...

    Losing power

I have a question about losing power while running / driving. I haven't been using the vehicle very often the past few months. Mainly because it need an exhaust ( I have it but waiting to install) and it runs rich( black smoke). I changed the plugs and intended to attempt carb adjustment. Well...

    grommets on wiring loom

Are you talking about using a metal bx sheathing ? Or a more flexible rubber product. Would there be an issue attaching it to the chassis?

    Tune up q&a

Something tells me I am in a better position to afford an education in continuous chassis repair as a posed to the cost of a galvanized new one. If I fail...there always plan b or g as it were.

    Tune up q&a

Thank to all, your reminding me of things I most likely would over look. As for the chassis corrosion, wow I am truly aware just how bad that is. Fighting to be able to get the rover stored inside my garage to really address the problem. The longer I live the landy I realize that it not in bad...

    Tune up q&a

If your asking about the members, I'd have to say great. They have all been a help to a new series 3owner. as for the prices, I know you great what you pay for but also it easy to be taken advantage of in a somewhat specialty market...at least here in the US

    Tune up q&a

If I clarifiy "available" most likely I would be ordering from the UK. Living in the US I'm not sure what Id find around here for a om knownon ripoff price. I just know my wife's Volvo is strictly Volvo parts, so if figured the rover might be the same. I know I'll go with a better quality part...

    Tune up q&a

I'm going my first landy tune up. As I look at components I find genuine Land rover, Lucus and off the rack versions of the same product are available. There's a Lucus distributor in itnow so I figured it original. Here's my question...am I better off using the Lucus, matching the distributor...

    Plug question

Can anyone tell me if f a NGK BP5ES is the same as BP5ES -11? I have a couple of nos plugs that came with the landy when I bought it. I figured I'd use them but I'm unable to match the plug code exactly.

Removal of oil bath air filter cartridge

I would have to say yes. Nothing else was corroded, very little oil in the filter. Must have been the length of time it sat clamped together with a small amount of oil sealing it all as one unit.

Removal of oil bath air filter cartridge

Situation update. I was finally about to separate the filter from the housing. Little WD40, little heat and little rubber mallet proved to do the trick. The filters were surprisingly clean but I still needed to know. Cork gasket was there as well. Thanks to all

Removal of oil bath air filter cartridge

It is the air filter I'm talking about. Used a rubber mallet, as suggested but would not budge After further investigation I think I found a seam around the filter. Going to try little atf and acetone...

Removal of oil bath air filter cartridge

I did try tapping with the hammer handle, gently though. I'll breakout the rubber mallet and have at it. Another question while I'm here. The hose connecting the filter to the carburetor, should that be a hard plastic or flexible like a heater hose material. My looks rather newish but it's too...

Removal of oil bath air filter cartridge

Hello all, I was in the process of tuning up my 73 series 3 and I discovered something strange, at least to me. After removing the oil bath filter from the strapped in harness I found the whole unit in pretty good shape. Even the wire mess cartridge was still most clean ( maybe do to the fact of...

    Important day for me

Well...I've got good new/ bad new, at least for me. I hit the area of chassis I was working on with wire wheel , used brake cleaner on surface the coated with a Rust-Oleum product for rusted surfaces. Decided on this product 1) availability 2) cost 3) what I felt as a good quality paint for my...

    Important day for me

The metal seems pretty solid. In fact I really thought the gun did a nice job, better than I anticipated. Plan to hit with an angle grinder today to clean it up a bit before it gets too wet and snow comes. I took pics but I haven't been successful posting them, keep getting error message...
