    1986 90 Radio wiring

You can prchase the plugs for the rear of the radio from any good car audio shop, maybe even halfords, if these dont have addaptors on the other end just cut off the old plugs and start again. You will need a permanant live, an ignition live and a earth to power the radio these are easily found...

    Rear door hinge

I would say it is easier and probably as cheap to replace the full hinge the only trouble is getting them painted, in some cases as with mine they are so worn that you have to replace the full unit Try www.landroverspares.co.uk they do mail order and most of the parts are Bripart, they are...

    series 3 trouble

Would i be right in thinking he meant the prop shaft? If tere is excessive play in the Universal joints on this it could cause the knocking noises you describe also check all the springs and axle alignment whilst under there

    Head Gasket Freelander

This is a very comon problem with this engine, which is helped by regular servicing by competent mechanics. Keep a check on coolent and oil levels and also that temp gauge for anything unusual. Im not sure if the problem has been cured on newer models but i is still being fitted so you never...

    White smoke

Give it a good run, sounds silly but the exhaust might be full of smoke, if no better and as you say not loosing or burning water check the injection pump timing, fuel filters, lines and pick ups as this can be a sign of fuel blockage

    landy clubs in the northwest

yeh as wingy said we are the "next best thing", we off road together as much as possible. The problem is we are pretty much restricted to brierfield in burnley as there are not many rights of way in lancs!!!! But this problem could of been solved with a fello member (fitz) knowing lanes around...

    Defender 90,Handbrake sticks on

I have had the same problem with mine, usually after a session off roading. What i had to do was strip the handbrake unit down (this is the large drum on the rear of the gearbox) remove the actuator unit strip it clean and grease all the parts (sounds harder than it is). Also check the condition...

Advice Reqd 90 2.5 Td 19j Oil Leak

If its engine oil then it will be your rear main oil seal which is behind the flywheel. This will mean removing the gearbox to repair it. Not a difficult job to do but a ramp helps Graham

Insurance for a first time Landy driver

I ve just turned 24 so mine is still expensive with some providers but the cheapest one by far is farmers union (NFU) they give landrover owners extra discount, for my defender 90 im paying £400 fully comp, might be worth a ring 01200429622 this is my local office but they should be able to give...

Advice Req. Huming noise & thump when turning

Hi irlin I have heard of similar faults being caused but the IRD (intermediate Reduction Drive), from what i have read in LRO magazine this is a difficult diy job. I would suggest having it checked out by a landrover specialist first as these units arn't to cheap but if this is the fault and...

    power loss problem series 11a

If it was running fine when you left it then i would say its nothing terminal, could just be damp, try spraying everything electrical with wd40 (or anything like), clean and set the plug gaps and maybe try some new points as they are only cheap, i used to have a old polo and it ran like a bag of...

Can't get it in gear after a long run

Try new oil (ATF) but looking at what has been said before i would say your box is f**ked. There is no way of checking the clutch fork without taking out the box. Myself and accywingy changed a R380 box the other week on Roys 90 because of a loud knocking from the gearbox when ticking over and...
