    TD5 cracked head

I kept the lash adjusters upright and immersed in oil - OTT probably.... And do replace the dowels with the metal ones - I expect the original nylon ones will be the standard Z shape after that mileage anyway..... Good luck, A

Great links/advice chaps thank you! I might brace myself for the top notch Samco's ........

    Defender TD5 turbo-intercooler hoses

My originals (y2000, 224000 miles....) are definitely 'squishy' while replacing turbo.... Search shows nothing recent - any recommendations for good quality replacement, ideally as a set, and ideally not OTT shiny blue/red luminous (unless that is a sign of good quality of course....:D). I...

    Plod have been busy today

And it seems quite a normal prohibition sign? Oddly of course a plain white circle with red ring round would mean much the same, but prob a lot less recognised..... From the mud they were clearly hooping about where they shouldn’t so not much sympathy for them (at all).... A

Not sure about this Landy.. thoughts welcome!

Not advertised as a County, and it isn't - black wheel arches etc. Bit high on price, but good opening for haggle, and if genuine the mileage isn't bad. I'd check out the floors front and rear, esp footwells as no underwing protection that vintage (DAHIK......), head caution definitely -...

Some weird electrics - high level break light

Similar issues which I’d decided were earthing..... Any easy hints on where vulnerable earths are found that end of the chassis? Thx, A

    Indicator cancel issue

Mine too! Re-fitted a couple of times, no luck, but was thinking along the lines of the rubber shroud pulling it close to the ‘cancel’ click so will try the dangle check.....ooo err ...... Could well be the stalk has got bent towards the right turn position over the years..... Mind you, it’s...

    rear n/s mud flap

I’ve ripped off, perished and randomly lost many from all corners over the years..... The vehicle is legal without, unless someone showed you were causing a hazard due to its absence or half-hanging off as said. I have found the price with new shiny bracket is little more, and looks a darn...

    Strange plastic umbrella handles?

Mine just end up hooked over the last pipe, cable, wire I moved them onto to get them out of the way..... ;-) A

    Bruised thigh!

As said, the steel tang goes across the width of the slot, where you see the plastic lugs - not the length of the slot, when they would indeed simply fall off! DAHIK...... A

    Fuel leak on a TD5

Done 2 over the years - just a bit of patience and working by feel for a couple of bits it’s fine. And I’m a numpty so you should breeze through it! Enjoy, A

    Footwell repair

Arrived within 3 days....great service. I’m not someone who should be allowed anywhere near a welder.....I’m having it done next few weeks by an expert....will let you know what he thinks of them when he’s had the chance to examine the whole lot and come up with a (long I’d guess) list of jobs...

    New rear cross member

Mine was near enough £1000, but long legs needed, and a rush job so saw me coming a bit........:( Also needs some serious clean up and de-rust after only 2 years - ho hum..... A

    Footwell repair

payydg - sorry for rather a hijack, tho fully on-topic....... :D YRM outriggers n bolts, footwells, C Pillar inserts all on the way (soon mounts up......) - and I'll be looking at the Fertan for the rest of the (hopefully) sound chassis. Great help chaps as usual, thanks, A

    Footwell repair

Brilliant PaulD - just what I needed to see, and learned a lot about short props along the way. Top job, A

    Footwell repair

“While you have access”......? What has to come off? Wheel and....Wing....or what else? Just ordering YRM outriggers and footwells.....and C pillar sections ......and probably rear floor upstand kit from a quick look after MOT failure. Oh well after 17 years and 220k probably deserves some...

    MOT Advisories

..........and plenty of lube....... Oh, OSD beat me to it....!! The bushes can occasionally split when you squeeze them into the top yoke of the damper, but I've done them twice. Just split the nuts off the bottom mount imho, but I'm lazy.... Finally gave up and replaced the dampers with new...

How noisy should my new clutch be?

As said, can’t see why any new properly fitted clutch would ever be ‘noisy’ - def ask them to check it over, and not take any nonsense...? Good luck, A
