I use my iphone 4 on video setting in a windscreen phone holder. Gives an hour or so of recording with a nice clear picture and as long as it’s plugged into the ciggy power supply, the battery is fine. Not tried night recording though.

Have just purchased one of these and the usb connection will not work with an iphone, but the sockets seem to take a Tom Tom sat nav, Belkin tunecast connected to my iphone and portable DVD player all at once without blowing fuses. Probably won't last too long, but cheap enough to throw away.
