    Should I love my clunk?

Have subsequently changed the rear shocks (and springs), and changed all of the bushes on the rear ARB as well as the drop links. Still get a rattly clunk from rear over uneven surface - not dramatic just annoying - but no noise when going over larger bumps eg speed humps. Could this just be...

Diesel leak through fuel cap lock

Hi - I seem to have a leak through my fuel cap, and it looks like it is coming through the lock. Result is the diesel triangle of shame on the rear quarter... Have recently changed the cap but same problem exists... Both old and new cap are vented. Any ideas welcome!

    Rear Anti-Roll bar replacement

I am looking at replacing my rear ARB and all the relevant bits and bobs. Can someone clarify the part number for the pin which attached the ball joint to the rear ARB - is it NRC6658 or NTC8202? Many thanks!

    Folding Rear Step - spacers?

Hi there - the step has just arrived and you are correct - they are not spacers but threaded inserts that I do not need. Many thanks for your guidance!

    Folding Rear Step - spacers?

Am about to replace my folding rear step which is old and bent. Assume the new one (STC7632) will just bolt straight into the rear crossmember - but why are they supplied with spacers? Old one was just bolted in to crossmember, no spacers just a washer. TVM.

    Springs and shocks

so have seen two mechanics today - first tells me rear springs are normal and front are worn. Second tells me rear springs are uprated - we had a closer look and they are black with a few red marks, and front are normal. Rear shocks are fully extended so only work in one direction - ie down -...

    Springs and shocks

hmm a mate (Disco driver) reckons that the rear springs are heavy duty which explains the height difference. How would I know if the front springs were knackered?

    Springs and shocks

Apologies for the basic lack of knowledge about to be displayed but here goes.. I would like to replace the rear shocks on my 96 110 300TDI - existing shocks say "Woodhead" on them and NRC 8456. My rear springs are black, but would appear to he heavy duty or uprated as the rear of the car...

    Should I love my clunk?

Have just had my A Frame balljoint replaced on my 96 110 300tdi, and all wheel bearings done, but am noticing a clunk when I hit any sort of hole on the road or go over a speed hump. Clunk seems to come from both front and back. No clunk when taking up drive or when driving on a decent...

    Noisy rear axle..

Wonder if someone can advise - the Salisbury rear axle on my 1996 110 300TDI is pretty noisy, sort of loud road noise without any vibration, which increases with speed. Very evident when coasting. Have recently changed the oil in the rear diff, and noticed some metal specks in the old oil...

    Defender Sunroof - slight curve

Hi - the sunroof in my 96 110 has a curve in the glass, and the middle of the rear edge does not sit completely flush with the seal. This is the twist-type sunroof, and even when the handle is twisted tight, it is not closed tight. I read somewhere that Defender sunroof glass should be flat...

    Cooper - ATR vs ST?

Decided to go for the new Grabber ATs instead. Does not seem to be much written about these yet so looking forward to trying them out...

    Cooper - ATR vs ST?

Sounds like ATR's are the way forward, but agree they are hard to find - spoke to Cooper supplier who told me he can't get them. Other option could be Toyo Open Country A/T or H/T but have not found many comments on these...

    Cooper - ATR vs ST?

Looking to change my current tyres - Grabber TR - to something a bit more forgiving on the tarmac. My 110 spends most of its life on the road rather than off (90%), so need something quieter and less harsh! Have been steered towards Coopers, but can't decide between ATR and ST. Anyone use...
