    Unable to bleed brakes

Not brake related, but I love that tattoo.

What have you done to your Freelander today

It's likely the replacement wasn't installed using the correct technique

1 pin temp sensor part number

What year is it. There were changes made at various points in manufacturing, so knowing the year can help with stuff like that.

    Engine Swap

Yes, and more than enough other things to make conversion to manual uneconomical, but I was assuming he was just changing the engine.

    Freelander 2 Bonnet stuck open

I've not done the bonnet cables on the FL2, but it shouldn't be too difficult. Headlights are easy removed, they're often removed to change the bulbs. The cable runs along the slam panel, then down the inner wing towards the firewalls. As suggested, tie some strong string to the cable being...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Yes they do, I think I changed 3 in 4 years. Not just LR either, as our Audi has had 2 in 2 year too.

    Engine Swap

You'll need to change is the injector codes in the ECM. Also if you want to avoid doing an air path calibration, you'll need to use all the intake sensors from the working engine. I'm not sure the Autell will do either the injector code change or the air path calibration. Don't forget to...

FL1 rims hitting brake calipers !!!

15" steel rims were available after 2001 to fit the later brakes. They were fitted as spare wheels to iE models with 15" alloys, and all round to "E" base models, and the commercial. They're pretty rare, but we're definitely available

Freelander 2 (LR2) Scrabbling after diff bearing change

This is exactly what mine did, a while after I rebuilt my diff. My hypothesis was that the slack diff bearings hide the scrabbling Haldex as there's much play in the gears. Removing the play with a good diff shows up the Haldex issue. There are several theories as to the cause of the scrabble...

    Drinking Coolant / Head Gasket

Yes, the rear head coolant bleed passes through the manifold, simply because the manifold is in the way. The seal of the manifold fails in time, allowing the coolant to enter cylinder No 1 while the engine is running, because the manifold is under vacuum. This coolant gets burned or actually...

    Drinking Coolant / Head Gasket

As Andy said, the shiny ring is the top ring visible in the gap between the piston and bore. If there's no coolant connection in the oil, then it's unlikely to be a HG. If the inlet manifold seal is allowing coolant past, then it's likely to go out the exhaust, rather than into the oil.

A freelander 1 is a metric spanner vehicle.

    Older F1 EML? (SOLVED)

I'm pretty sure my 50th anniversary 1.8k had an EML. It uses MEMs 1.9, which does have the facility to output EML requests. It's not OBD2 compliant though, although it does have a connector that looks like an OBD2 port.

Freelander 1 TD4 Autmatic Transmission problems

Mine did that. I couldn't find the fault, so sold the car with the fault. The new owner fitted a reconditioned replacement, which has been fine as far as I know.

FL1 rims hitting brake calipers !!!

That's pretty much the standard size for a Freelander 1, as it was fitted to most models. The 15" steel wheels from the base model fitted with winter tyres are a good choice, as there are generally more tyres available in 15", compared to 16". Although 15" steels might also be harder to find...

Freelander 2 – Sudden heavy judder/stall-like jolt under load after clutch/flywheel & driveshaft seal replacement

With vehicle diagnostics, it's always best to go back to the last thing that was done, in this case the clutch. Did it have a replacement DMF?

    Freelander 1 Coolant Hose?

If the diesel leak is from the alternator area, then it's most likely to be the HP fuel pump. This will fail the MOT if the examiner thinks it's an issue. A leaking CV gaiter is also an MOT fail.

    Thoughts on EGR removal

It uses a pressure transducer to monitor the pressure inside the inlet manifold. MAP sensors are generally pretty robust, as they're designed to handle much more pressure than the normal operation pressure. They're not protected against objects being poked through the sensor port though...
