    Egr Blanking Mod

I did the EGR mod on mine at about 14k miles along with a Synergy II. Had the MOT done last week, smoke test showed 0.41 p/mil against a limit of 1.5 p/mil so went through as a fast pass it was that good. Very impressed.

    Commercial Ride Height/Ground Clearance

Hi, can I ask a favour of someone please? I am convinced (or paranoid more like, lol) that my Td4 van aint riding as high as others that I pass, whether that be 3dr's, 5dr's or other vans. Granted, I carry some weight in the back but still seems to sit quite low. Would someone, preferably...

    Chipping my TD4

Just a couple of comments to add. I have a Roveron box of tricks (synergy II) as mentioned, with the MAF compensator. I also have the EGR valve removed and bypass kit fitted. Today it passed the MOT with a emmissions reading of 0.41 parts/million against a max of 1.5p/ml and as such went...

    TD4/TD4.e

I would guess that the .e would be a Eco version of the freelander, maybe with stop/start control or some other enviromental twaddle. More to go wrong so stick with the one you have bought! Steve

Freelander tailgate window working the worng way round

Not all radios have the code set, on many if you switch it on and the radio comes straight on then no code, if it says "code" or landrover then there is a code set. You can get the code from a dealer. Steve

    Broke Arial, grrrrrrrr--replacement mount?

I got a new base from flea-bay and installed it this morning. Took out the interior light (cover, 2 screws and then unclip) and then the 2 sunroof panels and middle support. Peeled back the rubber trim from the sunroof and then pulled down on the roof lining to gain access. There was a white...

    Tyre Advice Pls...

All depends on the final rolling radius. A 15" wheel with 80 series rubber on will be within millimeters rolling radius to a 17" with the correct low profile rubber on......... Steve

Picking up our first Freelander tomorrow - what to look out for?

That is quite normal Jason and not a definative sign of VCU/IRD problems. Its always stiff to turn on full lock, just the way the 4wd system is. If though, its excessivly stiff then thats a sign of problems. A test would be the tipex test. Mark tippex on the front and rear props (in line with...

    Broke Arial, grrrrrrrr--replacement mount?

Thank-you all, new mount ordered, not got the "whip" bit yet but may aquire one of a transit van or something from work. Haynes manual suggests taking all the roof lining out for the 3dr.......... the interior light isnt directly under the mount but is that the way in to get the screw? Steve

    Broke Arial, grrrrrrrr--replacement mount?

Hi, I managed to break the aerial today on a 3dr freelander. The "whip" itself screws into the mount but it snapped leaving the threaded part in the mount. So, can this mount be bought anywhere and how does one get access to change it? Thanks Steve

    Fuel saving questions

I definatly save fuel when accelerating more gently and keeping everything as smooth as I can. Carrying about 700kg in the back of a td4 commercial, with AT tyres on I can get 36mpg, which to be fair I dont think is shabby at all. It goes down to about 33 when shifting along a bit quicker...

I was told not to buy a petrol but i wouldnt listen!

Is the 1.8 petrol at only 18k miles such a bad thing? Other than the usual Head Gasket Failure is there any other major problems that this engine is prone too? I have a pal that has a very early 1.8 thats on 120K now and not had the HGF nor any other major trouble. If the OP isnt...

I was told not to buy a petrol but i wouldnt listen!

AFAIK (google will help of course) the law changed in relation to car sales, in that the owness is on the dealer to prove that the fault wasnt there when he sold the car and will stay that way for 6 months after the sale. When I had problems the MAF on a 12k TD4(04 plate) the dealer fixed it...
