    Off-road tyres

I have read that its only advisable to go up one tyre size. So from 195's you should only go to 205's not the 215's. Also, FWIW im using Falken At/ta tyres in 195's. About £48 supply and delivered from Camskill. Last set had about 35,000 miles from them. Good grip in the mud and snow and...

    Rough Idle, vibrating on Td4

Hi there... Have noticed recently that the idle on the td4 is quite lumpy and can feel a lot more of a vibration when the engine is running on idle. Feel it through the seat, steering wheel, pedals. Engine sounds a tad rough and when I start to rev it you can hear it as if its missing a...

    Engine Transplant ??????

Aye but least the range rover had all 4 wheels on the ground.... the freelander had diagonally oppostie wheels off the gound, leaving only 2 with traction. And judging by the noise on the RR clip, driver wasnt revving too much and even if he was, all the electronic gizmos would of curbed the...

    Update on my TD4 Commercial.

Right, at 68,000 another wee update! Was serviced at 36K as a homer by a LR mechanic and he subsequently fitted new front pads and new prop bearings for me (more on that later), then at 48k and 60k back at Mike Aitken. Having thought that £250 a time was expensive for the service, Im now seeing...

Newer tires should be put forward or back?

I have always beleived and followed the new tyres to the back theory but id like to pose a question. Scenario: Buy 4 brand new tyres for the FL. After 6,000 the handbook reccomends rotating them front to back. The front tyres, having to do most of the work will be worn more than the rears so...

    Which Freelander TD4

Not all freelanders are unreliable... I have a 2004 TD4 van that has 12k on it when I bought it in 2008 and now has 61k on it.... not had a single fault on it. Had no coolant leaks, rear brake light on spare wheel carrier still works Electric windows all work (incl rear) Rear cubby box is dry...

    here's a puzzler for you on a td4

If it isnt the MAF then take off the EGR and have a good look inside and clean out if neccassary. Also, there was an update on for the ECU on how the EGR was controlled.... maybe try and find out of that was done during the years it was serviced at a LR garage (assuming it was) I had the same...

    Front Tyre/ tracking issue

When I had new tyres on mine I was concerned about the uneven wear on the fronts but was told that was due to the weight I carry and just a common thing on freelanders. They did however check the tracking at the front and said it was spot on and went on to say that the tracking on freelanders...

A WINTERS TALE ( might stop somebody being daft like me)

I did this on a regular basis this last winter with no problems. Unlock the car, start engine, heater on, seats on, use button on console to lock passanger door, close door and lock drivers door with key blade. I did however, test the use of the second key with the window open so if there was a...

    Freelander recovery..........

Yesterday I saw a Freelander been recovered by a Transit van. It had the front wheels lifted off the ground on a dolly of some description while the rear wheels were on the road. Am I right in thinking that the VCU and IRD will now be goosed? By the looks of it, the freelander was been...

    Another "strange noise" thread...

I had the prop bearings done (parts from BritPart) a few weeks ago along with the front pads (Mintex I think) and since then (unless had the stereo on too loud beforehand to of noticed) Im getting a strange noise from under neath. Definatly sounds like below the gears and handbrake or maybe...

    Egr td4 bypass valve kit

My MOT with EGR bypass blew 0.41 PPM against a max of 1.5 PPM and so went through as a fast pass. (Also has the Synergy II on too)

    L series and TD4 problems

Cos there were far far more of the L Series and TD4's purchased and still on the road than the 1.8 and V6. So, in pure statistacal terms there are bound to more people asking for help on the dervs than the 1.8s. Steve

    Egr Blanking Mod

I was just commenting that the fittment of either or both of the mods mentioned shouldnt adversly affect the MOT smoke test results that could be a concern for some folk contemplating the mods. Steve
