Tried some baby talcum power on the noisy 300 tdi serpentine belt, very effective.

Discovery 300tdi: Removed the (lhd) drivers side door interior light switch to find that the wire has corroded and snapped off, said wire is now hidden deep inside the door pillar, I've no idea how to retrieve it. I've tried shouting and swearing at it, but it didn't work.

I changed mine recently as it would randomly come on. You'll find it on the oil pipe a couple of inches before it goes into the oil cooler, the part number is AMR 4948, I bought one from ebay since the paddocks price was tad high.

The cracking is what's called a dry solder joint. Just re-solder it, which is heat it until the solders melts and add a little bit of new solder and its done. Be careful not to use to much heat else you could damage the track or the component, it should take less than 3 seconds to do.

I did the rear windows fix on my wife's motor and then a friends motor a few weeks ago, the dry joint is the one which I've circled one your photo below, if you look closely it will be cracked all the way around it.

Replaced this knackered damper on the missus's 300 tdi, cos she drove over a huge rock last weekend.
