MX5...great idea...while you are at it...get a perm and a fake tan to make doubly sure everyone knows you have turned into a poof.

....I'm inclined to think its easier just to get a hack saw and cut away the offending bits of wheel arch

no...not yet...just accepting the tyres sometimes hitting the bit of the wheel arches occasionally...I will wait for you to do it instead!

    Tyres

anything fatter than 255s are not needed unless you are driving on sand...plus any bigger than this and you will need spacers so your turning circle isn't increased.I have 255 BFG Mud Terrains and have never got stuck.

The day-to-day consequences of landy ownership?

mate. Buying a landy is not something you 'weigh up' . Us Landy owners did not look at the pros and cons. We just bought one. It was a natural primeval urge like having a naked Gwen Stefani in front of you - You just wanted to have it.! If those urges dont overide all the negatives, then dont...

Are You Ready For Your Eye Scan.??

What I would like an ID card for would be to cover car tax and car insurance- I am ****ed off paying over GBP 1000 a year to insure my motors when every sodding TV programme shows burberry clad chav after chav getting pulled up with no licence/tax / insurance and then finding out he is already...

I somehow knew that would answer would get posted. Thanks Slob for reinforcing my faith in a good old sarcastic british pish take. I've already bent up the overheard bar to make room though...but the reinforced concrete beams are going to take some work with an angle grinder.

Have slowly added the things that enable me to push the TD5 90 a bit harder,snorkel/diff guards etc..and also 255 BFG Mud Terrains ( these are the absolute dogs bollox if anyone is thinking about getting them)..but the slightly bigger tyres has given me less articulation ,especially at the...

The day-to-day consequences of landy ownership?

I have had my td5 90 since new three years back and have spent that time bashing her into as many trees as possible and scraping her against as many rocks as I can in order that the blokes at the Land Rover club talk to me They all seem to have beards and seem to be like some kind of 'A' team...

Can anyone recommend a Steering Guard?

thats it...the long bolt fixes the rear of the passenger side bracket to the chassis- there is already a bolt on the chassis where the drivers side bracket will go. the brackets fix on the front between the chassis and bumper mounting-so you will need to slide those bolts out to fit it . you may...

    Cheers Mr Brown.

That smug Jock git should realise that stopping people buying our 'big gas guzzlers' will mean a whole lot less revenue for him in the petrol/dieslel tax that we pay him at the moment. If we all bought silly electric cars he would have to raise income tax to 80% to cover the shortfall.

    essex/herts

Anyone in the above area want to join me off-roading. Have gone out on my own a number of times ( yep- I know -silly) and getting to the point where i will need some help when I get stuck -and there are no trees to attach my winch to.

Can anyone recommend a Steering Guard?

Oh mate...you were not wrong there...what an absolute pig of a job that was. Apparently ( I am told) they are designed like that to make it difficult for people to get to the mountings and steal your winch and bumper etc. Which makes me feel a little better about the skin off the back of my...

The day-to-day consequences of landy ownership?

I have a two year old TD5 .It has rattled from new. Both doors need to be slammed hard to shut properly and its bloody noisy. In town its easy to park and the chavs in their neon lit kit cars know never to cut me up as I dont care about scraping the side of my car against them. Off road I have...

    BFG Mud Terrains

yep...trying to balance having a mud tyre thats not too wide( concentrating the weight on a smaller footprint--better grip - ?.am I being logical) and having the tyre a bit wider to give me a little bit more width/rubber to make up up for the bigger gaps between the tread when I am back on the...

    BFG Mud Terrains

next question...size . I have 16inch boost alloys with 235/85 grabbers on them at the mom...Can I comfortably put 255/85 Muds on those wheels ?. Am I right in thinking this raises my Landy by about 3cm?

    BFG Mud Terrains

Will I notice a lack of road grip compared to the Grabbers that are on their at the moment ( I would hope not - as the grip on wet tarmac on those is shocking)...I am taking it on a long road trip next month and dont want to be on a tyre that requires me to drive at 50 MPH if its raining!
