What's the mileage? For comparison, I paid £2k for a 1998 DSE with 125k-ish miles last year. The 'sluggish' could well be a blocked map sensor pipe, or badly timed FIP. Mine had both and, once sorted, I've been very happy with the performance.

I've done it on my classic. There's nothing terribly difficult apart from the weight of the diff. I still managed to do it unassisted with just a trolley jack, but if I did it again I'd get a helper.

Well, the front half shafts go into the cv joints and they then bolt through the hub. You can't just pull the half shafts out through the hub, like you can at the back. Do you have a copy of RAVE?

I think the hole for the helicoil was either slightly oversize or not perfectly round. I think that allowed the bolt to slip during the tightening and damage the threads. The helicoil just wound out, so that's not a problem. I just need to redrill, tap and use an insert to get it back to the...

Unfortunately that's not the problem. Someone has had the engine apart before and, for reasons that I am unable to fathom, every single bolt-hole for the head bolts has a helicoil-type insert. One of them is not able to hold the torque of the head bolt, so I need to re-drill it and put another...

I need to re-tap a head bolt-hole in the block. I think the head bolts are M12 x 1.5 but can anyone confirm that?

If the underseal comes off, then it isn't properly 'attached' anymore which will, in all likelihood, actually cause rust as moisture gets caught under the it. Getting rid of any damaged underseal and replacing it is a good thing.

Are they aftermarket ones with a template? If so, don't throw the template away afterwards...

Oh, I know. I was hoping to try and stick the ones I have in the right place rather than buy a new set just to get the template.
