    I just back off the locknuts push the rod towards MC then move nuts so it’s nipped without free play then back off the nut nearest MC 1.6mm by eye move rod back away from MC then nip far nut up , hopefully make sense looking at diagram.     That’s a shame, sometimes you just need to have a cup of tea and cool down , that’s all part of the learning process, did you get the required clearance in the master cylinder pushrod and brake adjusters not binding can’t think what else would lock the brakes

    😨 15 year old battery is going some!, when you checked the earth straps does that mean you removed them wire brushed terminals clean including where they mount on chassis / engine and you have done same with positive connections , battery connections clean and tight?

    Looks like your charge light lead is ok, think it does need that exciter voltage to get charging Can you crimp in those big connectors a bit to get a tighter fit on the spade terminals also do this on the small one to make sure . You will have checked the belt tension by now, giving about 3/4”...

    Stag88 last seen in 22, when you flushed rad did water come out as quick as going in, if so unlikely blocked have you checked the thermostat is opening in hot water
