    P38 Off-Road Equipment

Don't think that's true. The major selling point of the Range Rover has always been it's off road ability. It has always been advertised as such - it would be disastrous for LR's reputation to dumb down their flagship. My understanding was that the Disco was introduced to tap into the new...

    P38 Off-Road Equipment

It's not just P38s that are vulnerable to deep water. Pretty sure the later defenders have their electronics under the seat too or at least in a position which means they need to be moved if deep water is going to be a regular feature of their use - remember seeing harness extension kits in LRO...

    Defeated off to the experts

I assume you're referring to the V8? It's even worse when some numpty in the past has stripped the threads in the bellhousing and used a nut to hold the allen bolt at the top... You try getting a spanner up there to hold the nut! Luckily I'm now an expert having had to change it 3 times in...

To cam or not to cam.

I thought the only recommended cam for the RRs for both GEMS and THOR was the standard one. YIn the ansence of any other improvements, you might get slightly more bhp from a warmer cam, but it will be at the expense of torque and vice versa. Or have I been reading the wrong articles? I am...

To cam or not to cam.

I would do the oil pump gears at the same time as previously suggested. The cam won't just 'go', it will just gradually get more and more worn. Irish, where did you get your rocker stuff from? The last time I looked, the parts for the rockers cost more than the rest of the job put together...

To cam or not to cam.

What is this special tool for the crankshaft bolt of which you speak? I'm about to do the head gaskets on mine and a new cam will be part of the job. I'm just going to go for a standard one though. Where's the best place to get one?

    Wheeler dealers at it again

Isn't the 'Land Rover Mk3' a Discovery 3 in the US? Mind you, Mike Brewer won't know the difference anyway.

    Greenlaning nr Guildford?

Yay! The cast is coming off my leg next week and I haven't started taking the engine apart in the Rangie yet so I'm up for any upcoming outings! I will have to start the head gasket work soon though so the sooner the better!!!

    Greenlaning nr Guildford?

Ok, I have a slight problem. Following a slight sledging incident on saturday I hurt my ankle. Following a hospital visit today, I now have a nice bright blue cast on my lower leg to immobilise the break. On the plus side, my Rangey is an auto so I don't need that leg for driving!! Is it...

    Greenlaning nr Guildford?

Is there still a free slot on this trip? I seem to have lost the plot a bit... Perhaps I didn't shout loudly enough...!!

    Greenlaning nr Guildford?

So we have to shout again? Does this count as a shout? I'd feel guilty though as others have already expressed an interest but I've forgotten who's who (and they're probably being more productive than I am at the moment!). Perhaps I could be on a standby list?

    Greenlaning nr Guildford?

How big a group are we looking at for this 26th outing? I'd be quite interested. The last one was great. I'm about to take it off the road to sort the HG so this might be it's last outing for a while...

    p38 front prop shaft

Don't forget to mention that this was a potentially lethal failure. If it was down to incompetence, they need to be aware just how serious the consequences could have been.

    Centre dash vents removal?

Well that was easier than I expected it to be. I found the perfect tool combination to be a metal tent peg and a pair of mole grips! No idea why I happened to have a tent peg in my tool box but it was perfect for the job!

    Centre dash vents removal?

That'd probably still be an improvement. Hate roasting hot head and freezing feet.

    Off Road Capabilities?

They're good in snow. About as good on ice as any other non studded tyre - my sig pic was me wedged sideways across a very steep downhill bit of road after performing at least 3 full 360s on the way down. I was crawling in L1 when I lost traction so I wasn't being dumb either. If the dumbass...
