    P38A BECM/ECU unsynced? ODB Fault code P1672

My O/H's father has just made me up a complete kit based on this principle. I'll get round to fitting it one of these days, if I ever manage to resolve my other problems. I did wonder if we ought to offer it to others.

I was intending to get one of their systems too!

Plus they're completely different cars and engines - it's like comparing a cabbage with an apple.

As with a lot of these guides, they are often extremely helpful in themselves to help gain a better understanding of the areas involved regardless of whether the reader will ever actually do the same work themselves. It really helps when dealing with so called experts to know when they're...

I particularly liked the one where they tried to put out the fire with handfuls of snow!

    P38A BBUS going off randomly

Well it's already had a fuse box. And a Becm repair. Bit frustrated with it to be honest.

    P38A BBUS going off randomly

I guess so but since I'm still not able to use it for various other reasons I'd rather try and get it fixed properly. Think we're going to go for a replacement becm, given the ongoing problems with the starter running itself as well.

    P38A BBUS going off randomly

I'll have to try and find the becm config printout that Rick produced for me when he was repairing it - that will probably tell me. I'm pretty sure superlocking has never worked on this vehicle. At least it doesn't do anything extra when you double click the lock button. It's always possible...

    P38A BBUS going off randomly

Hi Wammers, No diagnostics unfortunately other than an EAS Kicker. Don't they all have BBUS sounders? The battery has been disconnected/gone flat so many times on this during my ownership - I've never had this issue before though. Hmm, looking in Rave, it states the BBUS will sound if the...

    P38A BBUS going off randomly

Hi All, I've been having lots of electrical headaches with my P38, mostly relating to the starter operating itself and the battery going flat. Wrt the battery going flat, I've disconnected the RF receiver wire and had been running an experiment to monitor the battery voltage. After 4 weeks...

To fix or not to fix that is the ?????????

Blimey. That's all you've got wrong with it and you're thinking of getting rid? I realize it may seem a bit daunting, but all of those issues are readily fixable - the blend motors are probably the most labour intensive but still not exactly disastrous!

    P38A Fuel filter

On my 98 4.6 it's to the rear of the air tank on the drivers side, as Littlewill says.

V8 Starters. Have I been sent the wrong one?

As a follow up to this, the shorter length of this particular starter means that it is much easier to fit, removing the need to use multiple socket extension bars running behind the engine mount for the top bolt.

V8 Starters. Have I been sent the wrong one?

I tried the lookup tool on their website but they don't have a starter listed for the P38. Anyway, sounds like it's the right unit so thanks all.

V8 Starters. Have I been sent the wrong one?

It'd be nice if I could be confident of that before I fit the bugger, given the problem I have with the stripped top thread..

V8 Starters. Have I been sent the wrong one?

Hi All, Just managed to get my dead starter off and compared it with the new Denso starter from Island 4x4 to find that it's about an inch shorter. The business end looks ok, but the part numbers are completely different. The Denso one has 26801 and DSN002 on it which doesn't match anything in...

Thanks TomCat - unfortunately I think the problem is both. Fancy making me something along those lines Keith?!
