Well it's already had a fuse box. And a Becm repair. Bit frustrated with it to be honest.

I guess so but since I'm still not able to use it for various other reasons I'd rather try and get it fixed properly. Think we're going to go for a replacement becm, given the ongoing problems with the starter running itself as well.

Blimey. That's all you've got wrong with it and you're thinking of getting rid? I realize it may seem a bit daunting, but all of those issues are readily fixable - the blend motors are probably the most labour intensive but still not exactly disastrous!

On my 98 4.6 it's to the rear of the air tank on the drivers side, as Littlewill says.

As a follow up to this, the shorter length of this particular starter means that it is much easier to fit, removing the need to use multiple socket extension bars running behind the engine mount for the top bolt.

I tried the lookup tool on their website but they don't have a starter listed for the P38. Anyway, sounds like it's the right unit so thanks all.
