Brake lights blowing fuse - 300TDi

Many thanks for the quick replies, everyone. Solved the problem now, it is actually a fault with the trailer brake lights or socket as suggested, should be easy to sort come daylight. I assumed that, since the reversing light was duff as well which I noticed last night (same fuse), it was the...

Brake lights blowing fuse - 300TDi

Hi Guys, Got a towing job tomorrow, checking the trailer lights I found that not only were the trailer brake lights not working, the Landie's weren't either ! Fuse blown, fitted new but blew as soon as the pedal was touched. Removed & unplugged rear lights, still a short somewhere. Brake light...

    What gave you the bug?

Reading First Overland in school - still have a Series One as well as a 300TDi.

    disco R380 in a defender 200tdi

I considered this due to our LT77 box having poor synchro into 2nd, however the local Landie specialist's advice was that it wasn't worth the hassle and better to rebuild the LT77. However, if you're prepared to diy it might be more viable. In the end I sidestepped the issue by changing the...

    High level brake light

Thanks again, guys. Just bought an inexpensive Defender / Disco light off eBay, so will report back as to if/how it fits.

    High level brake light

Thanks for the replies, both. The attaching lugs are still in situ, so I'd prefer to fit the original item if possible. Will try and check the part no.

    200tdi or td5

Er, well, Mr Obnoxio, you were the one who said in this thread that we were Victorians because we don't like unreliable electronics - my initial post was about TDis.

Yes, it has an ecu that presumably just controls essential stuff like they used to. Nowadays everything's routed through the ecu - screen washer failed ? That'll be £500 for a new ecu please. Battery down by 0.0001 volts ? Let's just shut everything down so you can't sit and listen to the...

    LEZ and Counties

Got this sorted fairly easily in the end. The problem was that the supplying dealer had wrongly registered it as a utility, so I just sent DVLA a couple of pics and the Land Rover VIN decoder and they changed it to station wagon. Took just a few days to become LEZ compliant after that.

    What colour ?

The final and correct answer was Montpellier Red !

    High level brake light

Fitting a later steel rear door to our 300TDi but need a h/l brake light. Plenty on eBay but described as Disco / Defender items, however given that the Disco has curved glass how can they be the same ? So either the curvature is immaterial or there's some sort of adaptor gasket for the...

    200tdi or td5

Doesn't make 'em any better, though. Last year I got rid of a 3 year old diesel electronic nightmare as soon as it was out of warranty, and went back to a 14 year old petrol car which is infinitely more reliable. For the same reason, I run a 300TDi County - don't want anything later, thank you...

    What's this door I've bought ?

Thanks,Trax, that looks ok but I think I'd prefer a genuine L/Rover item - there seem to be a few on eBay for rather less ££.

    What's this door I've bought ?

Thanks for the replies and yes, the frame does indeed have rounded corners. So I need to look for post 2006 doors, but are they always all-steel and are they actually galvanised ?

    What's this door I've bought ?

Our 90 Defender 300TDi County has the usual rotten door frames at the bottom. I had it in mind to repair them, but have dropped on a really nice passenger door for £120, which is totally rust free. Investigation with a magnet shows that it is actually an all steel door, possibly galvanised...

Fuel tank capacity of defender 90 1997

Side mounted tank (as per 1997 300tdi) all models except Station Wagon 68.2 litres. Station Wagon models 45.5 litres (as per Haynes Manual) Well, I just put 47.69 litres in our '96 County Station Wagon !

90 County springs - does anyone know....

Postscript to the above - do the RR springs give a greater height setting, give that the RR is (presumably) heavier ?

90 County springs - does anyone know....

Thanks for the info, everyone - sounds like those RR springs may be the way to go for a soft ride. The 200 was great, but the new 300 too hard and crashy over potholes. Like Barbados, I'm not an off-roader other than out of necessity, so am all for creature comforts !

90 County springs - does anyone know....

....whether County springs are the same as standard ? Recently acquired a nice 300 County to replace our 200 ditto but find the ride a bit harsh with its 2" lift and HD springs, so I'd like to get it back to stock. Our local garagiste, who's much into Landies himself, thinks that County...
