L322 HDC Inactive message on starting

Ok, thanks guys. The car does have the headlight wipers so if it is either them or the final stage resistor for the blower, would the battery go completely flat in 2-3 days as a clear indication or is the current draw much lower?

    L322 Swirl Flaps

Thanks. I know that BMW modded the swirl flaps during the lifetime of the engine to reduce the issue but I'll take a look and see if it's already been done

    L322 Swirl Flaps

Can I assume that the BMW 3.0 Diesel engine fitted to the Range Rover has the same swirl flap disintegration issues as when it's fitted to a BMW? If so then I think I'll be doing the blanking plate mod...

L322 HDC Inactive message on starting

Hi all. I've recently bought a 2005 L322 Range Rover Vogue and have noticed that from time to time when starting her, the systems 'bongs' and displays a 'HDC Inactive' message. The HDC actually works fine and I have read through various posts on this forum and they seem to point to the fact...

Freelander 1 back doors: central locking and speakers

Window problem is usually down to the mechanism cable snapping. You tend to get a short warning period where the window moves but sounds 'orrible and then it stops!

    Freelander 1 iCarsoft scanner issue

As part of the diagnostics you can set it to monitor what the manufacturer refers to as 'data streams'. So you can see stuff such as manifold pressure, fuel pump flow, water temp which are analogue and some digital streams such as whether the ignition is on or off, which doors are open, is the...

    Freelander 1 iCarsoft scanner issue

There are a few things that are outside of the industry standard OBDII scope which are not picked up by a generic scanner. The other problem is that it is limiting on the data streams that I can monitor. Even basic things like 'is the ignition on' are not detected correctly.

    Freelander 1 iCarsoft scanner issue

I've just bought the 2nd generation iCarsoft LRii diagnostics scanner to use on my Freelander 1 (2003 1.8 petrol) but it doesn't seem to be able to communicate with my engine ECU (mems3). It will communicate if I use it in generic OBDII mode but obviously you then have some limitations. The...

Can the clutch biting point be adjusted?

It's a mid 2003 (last of the pre-facelift) so I assume it's hydraulic. Shame I didn't think (or know) of checking for the issue a few weeks back when I had the car up on jacks to replace the VCU. Ah well, we live and learn...

Can the clutch biting point be adjusted?

Thanks guys. Guess I know what I will be doing this weekend now!

Can the clutch biting point be adjusted?

No, the clutch does not feel heavy at all. Is it obvious, visually, if the bracket has failed?

Can the clutch biting point be adjusted?

I have a 1.8 petrol hippo which had a clutch change just over a year ago. In the last couple of weeks it has started to 'crunch' slightly when changing gear (usually into 2nd or 3rd). Selecting 1st at a standstill seems fine The clutch pedal biting point is fairly close to the floor so I am...

    Reconditioned VCU fitted

Agree 100%. I've been in contact with Ken regarding my VCU and bearings which should be collected from me tomorrow for testing and possible refurbishment. Very helpful chap indeed.

    reconditioned IRD and VCU?

You're telling me!!! I've removed mine ready to send to Bell Engineering for testing and possible replacement. The rear prop came off easily but the front just refused to budge from the splines until a couple of hours of soaking with WD40 and some 'gentle' taps with a cold chisel and club hammer!
  17. Zigzagsky

Who removes their prop 8 months of the year?

So colder air does reduce economy at the expense of better performance.

Who removes their prop 8 months of the year?

Oh yes, I'd forgotten about the additive changes made in winter

Who removes their prop 8 months of the year?

Thought the cooler air only was beneficial the petrol cars?

Who removes their prop 8 months of the year?

If you look at the comparative economy of a diesel in summer and winter, they tend to be better in the summer anyway irrespective of the drive since a diesel runs more efficiently when warmer weather is present as far as I know.
