I haven't ever seen many threads about overheating damage to four cylinder petrol or diesel Series engines on here. Are these engines not known for it?

Are cast iron blocks and heads less likely to be damaged by overheating if spotted quick enough? I have read that it can be too late for aluminium engines by the time the gauge even moves.

I have read that modern sealed batteries are not suitable for older vehicles. These batteries are said to need variable charging voltages, which modern vehicles are designed to provide. A Series alternator apparently does not produce enough voltage to properly charge one of these batteries...

I find putting a smear of red rubber grease on the threads helps. It also keeps air out during the bleeding process. Are they cast iron or aluminium wheel cylinders? If they are aluminium, they steel nipple can often seize due to dissimilar metal corrosion.
