    test drove Evouge today

I thought it ws closer to £30,000 - £35,000? Also, I can only imagine the reasons for using the Range Rover brand was to A, be able to ask more for it than they could with 'just' the Land Rover name and B, because they would compete directly with the Freelander if it was under the Land Rover...

    test drove Evouge today

I think that in terms of design it is a good looking thing but it's the very first time that Land/Range Rover have built a new model simply because they know it would sell and not because they have a specific market that they are aiming at. Progression of the company and a sign of the times I...

    1999 range rover 2.5 dse

Yeah, despite all the advantages of the Japanese reliability regardless of badge, it's not quite the same as having a Green Oval, despite the temperamentalness of some models! Lol! Andy.

    P38 autobox compatability?

Cheers for that mate, I shall look for a late 4.0 box to go into my DSE then. Andy.

    range rover 4.6 backfiring

It is perfectly possible to get a 'new' coil pack and still find it to be duff. Check all of your earths as well as that can do all sorts of strange things! Andy.

    P38 autobox compatability?

No worries fella, I didn't want to mither you on the PM. So, on the HP22 I really want to look for a newer box rather than going for one from the same age as the car currently which is 1996? With regards to the HP24, is it a realistic upgrade or am I best to just stick to replacing like for...

    P38 autobox compatability?

Evening all, Just wondering, is the 4.0 P38 auto box interchangeable with the DSE one? I know they're both the ZF HP22 but want to check there are no differences as if I do need to change mine (1996 2.5DSE) then I've seen more 4.0 boxes available than DSE's. Also, I know the ZF HP24 is longer...

As much a I love the P38, and the TD5 and the newer models I guess for shear reliability you can't beat Japanese. I had an MR2 Mk2 for about 5 years while owning other cars as well and I never even serviced the thing, did 80 miles a day in it and it only let me down twice when the rad went and...

    1999 range rover 2.5 dse

I agree with The Saint, that ad is missing a fair amount for what it has cost the dealer to place it with Autotrader. One picture, on the edge of a road as well, I wouldn;t be tempted by it. Also, there's so little actual information on it and lots of acronyms (sp?), why not just put the...

    1999 range rover 2.5 dse

I love Range Rovers and particularly the P38 onwards models but, get a wrongun' and they can be a money pit and a source of constant headache and heart break. If you're not at least somewhat mechanically capable or know a friend who is and willing to help you when the time comes then it might...

Cheers for that. So, the classic is not an option however, is the 4.0 P38 auto box interchangeable with the DSE one? I know they're both the ZH HP22 but want to check there are no differences as if I do need to change mine then I've seen more 4.0 boxes available than DSE's.

Am I right in thinking the gearbox is a 4 speed ZF HP22 and is it the same one as in the 4.0 and is it the same one used in the Classic or is it different (apart from a differentbell housing for the BMW M51 diesel engine)?

    Urgent help needed - p38

Well, I might have answered my own question with the following site; BMW 3, 5, 7 Range Rover Crankshaft Position Sensor but I would appreciate it if someone could confirm what I'm reading, that the same sensor was used on the P38 diesel as well as numerous versions of the BMW 3, 5 and 7 series...

    Urgent help needed - p38

The alternator itself is perfectly quiet though. We're startng to thing that it is the crankshaft positional sensor that has failed although there may be a mechanical reason that caused this (flywheel/torque convertor/gearbox). Could anyone advise the correct part number for the replacement...

    Urgent help needed - p38

I used the 325 pump with P38 top section, however before all the issues are aimed at that and whether it is set up 100% accurately, although I understand why it would raise eyebrows, but that is all working fine, the top half hasn't moved since fitting, and the signals there are apparantly fine...

    Urgent help needed - p38

Well my auto electrician has checked the electronics and despite a few codes coming up everything was communicating, the alternator was charging with no problems and the battery seems fine as well. He checked the BeCM and could find no faults there either. The fact that at the moment of...

    Urgent help needed - p38

I've read a few other threads and a bloke has been mentioned several times called Doug who seems to either work for or run a buisness called Module Control. I happened to find him on e-bay offerng work on the BeCM. I described all of the symptoms and he seems to also think it's an earthing...

Ok, anybody in the Stockport or Manchester area who is mobile (the car is not driveable in it's current state) and could let me know what they charge per hour to look at it with a proper diagnostic system should I have no luck with my auto electrician tomorrow? Depending on what the costs are...
