I dont think they stopped using amber indicators after a certain year. I had a 2003 model for parts that had amber ones.

The wiring for the mirrors is the same. There is just one extra connector for the powerfold motion thats missing. This one is not present on the early ones. The extra wiring in the picture is for the tweeter speaker.

The 98' diesel have a very good engine. The early IRD(transfer box) have some issues with the ratio between front and rear drive. With a newer (00+) IRD its just as reliable as every other Freelander(if your lucky the IRD have been replaced at one time and you got the new one as i found on...

I have tried to source some info on fitting powerfold mirrors to my early FL1. (99 L series). I have read that its easy, but you should remove the gasket before you fit them. I did this when i fitted the RH mirror here the other day, but i found a leak so took a new look at it today and got them...

Seatbelt pretensioner are the same. The steering wheel will fit with the old airbag. Still unsure about the passenger airbag.
