Won't go into gear when hot.

The oil comes out of the fill hole as soon I the plug is removed, so plenty in it. In all honesty I haven't changed the oil since I aquired the vehicle in August 2013. I'll give it a change this weekend. Gear stick moves left and right and into reverse when hot, but 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th are...

Won't go into gear when hot.

With a hot engine/gearbox my 2.25 series diesel won't go into any forward gears in high range. If I select low range first and pull forward, I can then put it in high range and the forward gears work fine. Reverese works ok regardless. With a cold gearbox the high range works fine. Problem only...

    Bleeding the bleeding brakes!

I changed all my drums, shoes, adjusters, and slave cylinders about 2 months ago. Bled the brakes and nothing. I thought I had the adjusters set right, but then my dad took a look (retired qualified mechanic) and he said I hadn't adjusted them up tight enough and I should feel the shoes dragging...

Door Top - Glazed or Unglazed

Hi All, I need a new door top for my drivers door. I can get a glazed one for £68 or a door top and window channel fitting kit for £51 (using the original glass). Question is; How easy is it to fit the channels/seals to the door top? Is it worth the hassle to save £17? Cheers.

Series 2.25 diesel oil filler neck

I have a series 2.25 diesel and on the oil filler neck is a small 'T' off. This has been blocked with a bolt by the previous owner. I assume it it supposed to be for some sort of breather hose. Am I correct and where should it be connected to?

Brake springs (infront or behind shoes).

Thanks for all your responses. I did not the shoe pad differences for the leading and trainling shoes, but didn't pay attention to the pins for the snail cam. Think I'll take one last look and check!

Brake springs (infront or behind shoes).

Quick question......I have a 1960 series 2 with 11" rear brakes (Salisbury Axle). When I fitted the springs in what I believe is the right position, they pull the outer edge of the shoes away from the back plate. Should the springs be fitted on the back side of the shoes between the shoes and...

Proving Series 2 is MOT exempt

Bromsgrove, the 'H' is stated in the log book. I believe it may be a '14'. I haven't had a look for the chassis plate on my vehicle........where is it usually located? I would also have the car looked over annually. Being MOT exempt would just mean I don't have to be stringent with getting the...

Double pumping brake pedal to work and can't remove brake drums

Thanks for your responses. I had removed the small screws on the face of the drum and slackend off the adjusters. The head of the bleed nipple has been sheared off :( I'll have to try and undo the brake pipe to release the pressure that way.

Proving Series 2 is MOT exempt

Hi, thanks for your responses. I contacted the series 2 club and they advised my chassis number 'H6000365' is not recognised as a land rover issue! Does anyone know where/what this number is? It's stated in the log book! Thanks.

Double pumping brake pedal to work and can't remove brake drums

Hi. To get my brake pedal to apply the brakes I have to pump the pedal a couple of times before it comes up and the brakes work. What would cause this? Also, I can't remove the rear drums as the are catching on the brake shoes. How can I get the drums off? Thanks for your help.
