True, but that example didn't reach his reserve. The one I am interested in is top spec, lower miles etc. Should have thought to the right person a good 2000 X reg Disco 2 is worth around the £3000 after looking on autotrader. The bay doesn't necessarily reflect true prices IMO.

Will standard springs simply replace the air suspension then?

Spoken to them today and they want £500 for it with knackered engine. Apparently 'rear airbags' failed too - I take it they mean the air suspension? Not had a Disco 2 so not sure what suspension set up they have?

Apparently the V5 has been misplaced. Anyone know what is needed for a replacement? I'm guessing just a bill of sale to prove new ownership??

Hunt around big time. My renewal went up to £690 IIRC. Made a few calls and ended up paying around £170 in the end. It's the usual case of hitting the phones i'm afraid.

Good shout to check the condition of the rot etc. But then again, if I tow it away for a couple of hundred quid and it turns out to be a nail then that's when it gets broken I guess. Will have to chat to the owner more next week and see what comes of it. Would be nice to bring the old girl back...

I enjoy tinkering but time normally doesn't allow as I have my own business. I have a great local LR mechanic with a low labour rate £27 per hour so would get him to to the bits I don't have time for. I would love to do it as a project and as you say - better to save one than to scrap one!

This maybe a daft question so please don't flame me! I have removed the original rear tailgate door card and have a chequer plate card to go in its place. The fixing holes all line up but I haven't a clue what fixing I need to use on it. Anyone help?
