Veggie oil - am I an idiot?

Interesting. Don't mind being a guinea pig if it works.... Has anyone cold filtered WVO to 1 micron? That was one bit that I thought might not work. Heating everything to 60 degrees for filtering seems to be the recommendation.

Veggie oil - am I an idiot?

Yes probably for putting up another veg oil post. Fire away. I have spent ages researching veg oil for my Defender 200Tdi on this site and elsewhere. There is loads of advice out there and loads of nifty kit. It looks like I could spend hundreds of pounds and many hours on biodiesel or fit...

    More power form my 200tdi

Update: I finally got my power back! I went for cleaning out the intercooler. Whilst I was taking things apart I found the rubber connection into the inlet manifold was loose. It must have been like this since I changed the gearbox in the summer. When I put everything back together...

    Red Landy - Black Wheels

Does anyone have a picture of a red defender with Black wheels*? Or just some Disco alloys in black? I am refurbing some and I'm not sure whether to go silver or white. *not on a hill obviously;)

    Refurbing alloy wheels

I asked the guy if I could use it before he sells it. Unfortunately not. I don't have a compressor. If anyone on here wants to buy it, I would be happy to transport in return for you doing my wheels. Say up to 100 miles.;)

    Refurbing alloy wheels

I picked up a set of tatty disco wheels for not much money. I want to put them on the Defender, but clean them up a bit first. One half of me says polish them carefully for 60 hours each by hand. The other half says go at them with a wire brush on an angle grinder. The third half is...

Thanks. I don't think it runs all the time. I will give it a quick clean.

    Mystery fan in dash

I noticed a noise in the dash that sounded like a fan rattling. Opened the panel under the steering wheel and started poking around. Felt a small fan which is to the right of the steering wheel behind a little grille which I had always assumed hid a beep/alarm sounder. What is the fan for...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Changed the transfer box oil. Eventually... after trying three different methods and getting covered in oil. Swore a lot. Mostly at the "designer" of the Disco 2 who put the transfer box fill plug in the most inaccessible place with a thick harness draped under it (just to make things more...

    Rotor Filter.

The oil centrifuge filter is on the left hand side of the block quite low down, but can be seen from above. It has a domed cover with two retaining bolts. Inside is a short domeshaped filter on a spindle. I believe it does what the name suggests - ie spins to get rid of crap in our oil by...

Fixed it. Yes the calliper guide pin should be free. I took off the caliper holder, held the pin in the vice and then wiggled until it was free.

Help part 2!! Caliper won't fit back on...

The backplates on the pads look exactly like the old ones, but maybe the surface is too thick. I am still thinking that about this top caliper guide pin. It is fixed, but has a rubber boot over it and looks exactly like the lower one. It would be good if someone could confirm whether it is...
