lost for choice advise guys which one

We've just got a 2002 Vogue SE with 40k on the clock. Paid a grand over the top coz of the condition and mileage (sweetened with a good PX figure) The only L322's that came close were all petrol and over 120000 miles. We figured we bought the last one with 65K on the clock and have had no...

lost for choice advise guys which one

Whichever one you choose will not be cheap to run, diesel, petrol or lpg. The feel good factor of a Sport, L322 or Disco 3 will soon wear off and you then realize a P38 is just as capable if not better for daily use and towing. I've just PX'd my P38 for 3.5K, cost me 7.5K over 4 years ago...

Oh Dear Went Out For A Pub Lunch, Came Back With A New P38

Been looking to change our P38 for something slightly newer for a while. Test drove a 53 reg TD5 Disco with 70K on it Saturday. For fear of being abused by the Disco boys it must have been a baden, coz it was not very nice. Engine pulled alright but it was noisy and unrefined and the misses...

    LPG on a P38 - better on a 4.0 or 4.6?

That's not necessarily so mike. The price has come down considerably in recent times. My last quote was £1200 and that wasn't a 1 day special. That was using Bigas (Italian) gear which has a good reputation. DIY with Prins or BRC would probably cost you more. Doesn't take long to recoup your out...

    P38 reliability and adventures .....

Just go back to a good old fashioned map if the nav goes belly up and 4 on board with various networks so would be seriously unlucky for total loss. I make sure I have tyres with plenty of life in them, a battery that is in tip top condition, ignition system all recently serviced or replaced...

    P38 reliability and adventures .....

Heading for a place called Vikersund (Just north of Oslo) to watch the world ski jumping championships (Eddie the eagle and all that) And then head north. Nothing booked just see where the mood takes us. Spent quite a bit of time in Scandinavia as a young man so have always liked heading back...

    2.5 bmw diesel vs td6 ?

A nice idea but I would imagine beyond the scope of the average DIYer making the cost somewhat prohibitive. The engine alone must cost a fortune. You would have to keep your P38 for many years to get some sort of return on your investment.

    P38 reliability and adventures .....

You think your mad. We're heading up that way in the Classic!! Going with the old man who is not a good sailor so we're going up through Belgium and Germany to get to Hirtshals. Used to take the direct ferry to Norway until they stopped it. Good set of tyres and snow chains just in case, jobs...

Who's got the best Range Rover Classic...and why?

Loads more than a P38. Even if you're 6ft you can virtually stretch your legs out straight. The boot is smaller than a P38. Preparation includes draining a small bit of coolant off and topping up with anti freeze to make it a stronger mixture. Ignition in tip top shape. My tyres are all fairly...

Who's got the best Range Rover Classic...and why?

I'd like to nominate my 4.2 LSE. In Ardennes Green with saddle leather. I've corrected the paintwork with an orbital polisher so that gleams. The leather is mint as in apart from the drivers seat it looks like the other seats have never been sat in. The roof lining needs doing, more because it...

Right then! - It's home......and all is it not as it seemed..

I was thinking the very same thing. Wouldn't that be cheaper than replacing air springs, valve block and the like:D As for air springs my P38 has Arnott Gen 3's fitted. Probably not worth the extra if buying brand new (About £600 I think) I was lucky to find virtually brand new for considerably...

    Average MPG Gas/Lpg

Are you sticking £30.00 in because you've run out of gas or because the gauge is low. If the latter you could have quite a bit of gas left. LPG gauges are vauge to say the least. For example my LPG Classic with long range tanks (130 litres useable) has 4 green lights and 1 red. As a rule I go...

Right Gents - Who's going to offer advice to a young laydee!?

£400 and its not overheating!! That is a bargain. Can only assume the person you brought it from took it to a garage with the suspension problem and they scared him with new air springs, valve block and compressor required and it was going to cost £1000's. When in reality can be put right for...

Thanks for that, out with the pipe cleaners it is then.

    Help advise needed.

I had a similar issue the other way around. I used a 10 pin to replace my 12 pin, I lost the dimming at night feature. I would suspect the 6 connections on the car side are blanked off and you will have to do something with the 4/6 pins not used on the replacement mirror connections. Once that...

Wet passenger foot well where's it coming in?

Hi ash g. Where exactly does the top of the drain tube connect to? Is it a case of removing centre consol and transmission trim. I keep getting a wet patch drivers side (deffo not coolant) Whenever I unblock the a/c drains I always get a flow from the passenger side tube but never drivers...

    Quote for some work

They're a bit more involved on the petrol one's Dopey. They come enclosed in a plastic housing which tends to leak on the seal around the middle, well it did on the 2 I've used. Also one of them refused to open, as in it was seized shut. The genuine one on at the moment has been on over a year...
