Think I Put It On Too Cheap!!

Doesn't state nikasil issue but compression was down and there wasn't complete failure just down on power. Charged £350 for the privilege of being told he needed a new engine as they replaced a coil on number 8, all the plugs and maf sensor before a compression test was done. He didn't lose...

Think I Put It On Too Cheap!!

I've had a few before and the deeds been done and I'm on a roll at the moment. A mate in the trade sometimes gets lumbered with main dealer PX's he doesn't really want and he just happened to have to take a 1998 XJR. I took a look and would have given him the £1600 he wanted if it had come...

Think I Put It On Too Cheap!!

Quite possibly but the watchers were going up every time I refreshed the page. Thought of hanging on for a proper auction. But when someone has the reddys in their mits it's always hard to turn down!!

Think I Put It On Too Cheap!!

Put the LSE on ebay last night. Phone call 5 minutes after going live. Guy turned up today with the reddys. Must have been too cheap. Still I got more than enough to convince the Mrs a Jag XJR really is the way forward:) So can't really grumble. Fastest I've ever sold a motor, must have got...

    Where to after the P38?

You can't beat the smile on your face when you bury the pedal in the Wilton on an XJR:D

    Where to after the P38?

Had a test drive in a Jag XJR today (Thinking of letting the LSE go) Owned a few over the years but haven't driven one for several years. Makes you realize just how cumbersome a P38 or L322 are in the real world. Comfy yes, but over weight and thirsty to the extreme.

    RR Sport

Owned a TDV6 Disco for 3 years and whilst a tad bulkier than a RR sport the 2.7 was adequate and refined but no hot rod. I thought the the idea of a sport was to be 'sporty' and the 2.7 is more slippers and pipe than edge of the seat stuff. Has to be the TDV8 or buy an oil field and go for a...

Is it too much to ask?

-0.5 on that. Owned 3 Range Rover V8's and covered over 100k in them and only one head gasket failure (1st P38) which leaked to atmosphere so no internal traumas , but no sign of a slipped liner in any of them:) But I also owned 2 Jag V8's in the late 90's and early 00's and never suffered...

    Dash mounted Nanocom

Where as in the Diesel, the Nano would have gone in to stand-by mode, not realizing that the 10 minute delay between pressing the accelerator and forward motion being achieved really is quite normal:p:)

    Mr undecided

It's rare to see one for sale that's been fitted with top hat liners as the cost is so prohibitive that most people tend to either scrap them if it's required, fit a second hand engine or if they do go to the trouble of having it done they keep hold of it. Most P38's will have had new air...

LPG - Spare wheel, to carry or not to carry

My misses drives it most of the time and when it comes to changing tyres she's as much use as pockets in your underpants, so no we don't bother carrying it. Carry it on long journeys and have a very snazzy carry bag for it as well so the luggage stays nice and dandy:)

    New purchase

Blimey Saint, with that sort of journey detail I hope you're going to the airport to fly the planes:) Know all about reading and planning, drove a London bus for a few years when I first left the Navy, a lot of reading the road ahead in that game, live cargo and all that!! In my Navy days took...

    New purchase

Saint I always look on your MPG figures with envy, what sort of roads do you use most of the time? We can't seem to better 11 MPG on gas, but that is mostly stop start stuff in London traffic. The only time we see better than 15 is when we visit the Old's in Ramsgate which is motorway and duel...

Orings and blend motors.... What method did you use

When I did mine it was the distribution blend motor that had given up the ghost (it was stuck in the windscreen position) I changed all 3 rather than splice into 1. On first start up distribution was working 100% and so was the whole hevac system and the book symbol had disappeared. At the time...

Orings and blend motors.... What method did you use

+1 on the dexterity. You do find yourself in some funny positions when doing the blends and o rings.

Am i mental lol.....(was offered a swop today)

2nd hand can sometimes be a false economy. If you're fitting yourself its not so bad but most installers will charge more for fitting 2nd hand stuff than new and it won't come with any guarantee. If you can fit it yourself brand new kits are not badly priced and a large price of installation is...

Orings and blend motors.... What method did you use

I done mine a good few years ago on our last P38 and followed the rangerovers.net method. But I didn't have to cut the rear air duct, managed to maneuver it out of the way. But I was lucky as our eldest is a mechanic and had access to lots of different tools and I seem to remember having to use...

Am i mental lol.....(was offered a swop today)

If you plan on keeping long term get it gassed. Takes a long time for the pay back. Lots of people say it makes them more problematic but we run a Classic and P38 on gas and have had no issues in several years and a good few thousand miles. All I know is when I put 100 litres of gas in it costs...

Looks like this sub-board is gonna have to be split soon

Following on from the recent thread about autocars history of Range Rover. Like a Muppet I went out and wasted a few schekles on a copy. The guy that tested the new RR is either on serious back hander money or a good old fashioned Brown Nose that's so far up Land Rovers arse he's tickling their...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Thursday is MOT time for the LSE so the 2 things that I know are failures were taken care of. A new tyre on the back and front windscreen washer not working. Tyre a doddle and changing the windscreen washer pump a real PITA!! Had the usual problem of 20 year old rusty bolts snapping but...
