MPG not as scary as i thought

Rural location is a big advantage. Lots of London traffic and cold starts means we are lucky to get more than 13mpg!! Although the new P38 with only 40k on the clock hasn't dropped below 15mpg yet:) If that vote you're having in a couple of years goes the way of independence you might find you...

    Bumper Restore

Gtechniq C4 Permanent Trim Restorer Probably the dearest one out there but also probably the best. Your trim will look brand new and it will last.

    headgasket (price for fitting)

Gaskets are as cheap as chips, the labor for doing it is the pricey bit. I should imagine between £750 and a £1000 at a garage. Could have a go yourself, plenty of people on here will give you advise. There was a chap a few years ago (from Scotland I think) was talked through the job, went...

    eas pump

If it is the compressor, as Data said the ones from Island 4x4 are fine. I had one on my last P38 that preformed admirably. As for buying a P38 in a car park that had been previously owned for 4 weeks!! Sounds like it call end in tears. Hope you get lucky, or failing that you got it for a song!!

    p38 - L322

Had this dilemma recently ourselves. In the end we decided on a newer low mileage P38 rather than an L322. I wasn't prepared to pay over £10K on a RR and sub £10K L322's are at best 'well used'. Factor in the more expensive spare parts (1 air spring on a L322 is more expensive than a set of 4 on...

range rover classic tailgate still feckin opening!

As has been said, how is the bottom tailgate sitting? Have a drive with the bottom open and top shut and see if it still pops. Mine shuts 100% with the bottom tailgate open but is liable to popping open when they're both shut. I've adjusted as much as I can but think its a hangover from...

    How Crap Are Blend Motors!!!

According to the invoice their £740 included calibration with testbook. Talking to my local Indy several years ago he told me he had had P38's with under 80k miles coming back for a second time to have them replaced:( I thought he was pulling my plonker at the time, he obviously wasn't!!

    How Crap Are Blend Motors!!!

Having replaced the blend motors and o-rings on my last P38 at about 75K miles and the new P38 having covered only 40K miles I was hoping it was a job I wouldn't have to face again in the near future. Looking through the comprehensive history that came with the car it now looks like it maybe...

    Insurance rip off

Our P38 and Classic LSE are with Sureterm. £330 and £270 respectively. P38 limited to 10000 miles and the LSE to 8000 miles. They ask you every question under the sun, including your inside leg measurement!!! Probably looking for a get out clause so you have to be 100% accurate with your...

lost for choice advise guys which one

Probably not a good choice of words Data. What I meant to say was its the best diesel engine to be put in a Range Rover so far, regardless of who designed or produced it. Haven't driven one with the bigger 4.4 TDV8 (300+bhp) yet so I guess that's even better. I think its supposed to be more...

You will defo find it runs smoother on the standard 19' wheels. Not such low profile tyres so you won't feel every nook and cranny. If you stuck to your budget an 08 on 36K miles is a good buy. And have to say that TDV8 is the best Diesel engine LR have produced by a mile. Almost wants to turn...

lost for choice advise guys which one

Thanks Goodfella. It really is mint, interior is spotless. Probably paid over the top but P38's in that condition are becoming hard to find. The same money only buys you a rather tired L322.

Arnott Air Bags any one had problems with them?

I've had (did have) Gen 3's on for 3 years and 30K miles without issue. Quite amazed really as when I changed them I was fairly new to P38's and was convinced they would all fail to inflate and if they did would soon deflate. But they never leaked in 3 years. Time to test out that lifetime...

The green one has gone because I've just bought it. You never pay the asking price and/or they give you more than yours is worth to sweeten the deal. Its the cost to change that counts and I was more than happy with that. Couldn't believe how much 65K less on the clock could improve the ride...

That all sounds a bit keeping up with the Jones's to me. Nothing wrong with aspirations and all that but newish big gas guzzling 4x4's are not a good investment at the moment. Buy a RR sport today for 23K and sell it in 3 years for £7K. Or buy a mint P38 today for £7K and sell it for £3K in 3...

613 miles on diesel P38 - can you do better?

I managed a non stop 850 mile trip through Spain in the summer in my Classic. Mind you that was using about 90 litres of unleaded and 130 litres of LPG :)

Consigned to part time play thing...

This is all very true but as we know our P38's are far from the first flush of youth. Have a mate who has fitted the latest Receiver and says he still suffers from battery drain when left for a week. Ours is a daily user so we've never fitted the latest version so couldn't comment, but he...

Don't worry mate new lining will be going on in the comfort of the living room and the misses has been told that's where it will stay until the glues cured good and proper. Nearly got an L322 but just thought a mint P38 was the best place for my cash at the moment. The spare cash I had would...

Consigned to part time play thing...

EAS at Normal (assuming no leaks) Solar trickle charger if outside, electric if in a garage, don't want to be putting in the EKA every time you go for a spin. Lock, not super lock. P38 will throw a hissy fit for being left on its own so why complicate matters!! That's what I'd do anyway.

Not so bad mate. The old girl's still going strong. New bottom tailgate on all sprayed up. Had the rear crossmember welded for the mot. Me and the eldest attempting a new head lining this weekend if its not too cold. Was taking it to Norway in a few weeks but I've just got a new P38 so taking...
