Coolant got into engine via manifold ports..

Got stuck last night as the fan wouldnt come out, so called it a night. Just attacked this again and hand cranked the engine few times, seems to spin fine so hopefully all good. I guess it probably looked worse then I thought as the coolant gushed out but perhaps not much drained into the...

Coolant got into engine via manifold ports..

Thanks, I will give that a try. Hard to say how much as it was all quite quick and some also drained to the ground. I would say perhaps 200ml... Thanks

Coolant got into engine via manifold ports..

Hi all, Had a leak from the water jacket drain plug on my TD5 so I took the exhaust manifold off today to try and fix it. Manifold got off, no broken studs, so I thought this is going well. Even the plug itself just unscrewed out with minimal effort, BUT, I somehow did not thought of draining...

Undoing the high pressure PAS pipe...

Hi all, I am trying to change out the pipes on my TD5 due to a leak but the connection that screws into the pump just won't let go. I am using a flared nut spanner but I can feel that the nut is about to deform if I give it any more force. Does anyone have any good tips on undoing a really...

    Good alarm fitted in Warwickshire

Hi all, My defender is slowly looking more attractive as I do things to it so it's about time to get an alarm fitted. Looking at the Toad Ai606 or some sort of Viper alarm. Does anyone have any recommendations on good fitters around the Warwickshire/Midland area? Also thinking about...

OMP Strada Bucket Seat w/subframe & runner

Hi, Possibly after just the subframe and/or the rails. Have you got pics of them and how the seats are mounted to the frames? According to OMP's website, the mounting holes on the rails to the seat is 345x270. I assume that's the case on this? Also, how much are you after for those two bits?

Found this in my defender.. not sure what it is.

Mines a 110 SW, so no bulkhead...but perhaps there's something under the rear seats. Mine chassis not too bad for the year actually but it feels like a bottle jack would be a lot lighTer and easier to keep in the car.

Found this in my defender.. not sure what it is.

Ah right! Thanks. So that's what it is. Is there a place where it could be secured to?

Found this in my defender.. not sure what it is.

Was giving my newly acquired Defender a clean up and found this in the car.. Is this an actual part for the car or just a random bit of metal?

Older galvanised or newer standard chassis... Decisions..

Yeah, I do realise I am being a bit cheap but I didn't really want to spend too much as I get 20% and a bit off new Land Rovers being an employee and since my company is UK vat registered, I can reclaim some or all vat depending on useage, which puts a brand new SW 90 at around under 20k. I...

Older galvanised or newer standard chassis... Decisions..

Haha, I did knock everywhere with the heavy steel socket extension thing that I had. Did the magnet test as well and generally felt the same everywhere. There was a small patch of rust towards the back on one side. I was able to scratch off some of it so I think that was still surface rust...

Older galvanised or newer standard chassis... Decisions..

Thanks everyone again. I saw that 110 TD5 today and had a test drive. Totally agree as I felt it was more stable but not as nimble. It actually felt quieter than the 90 puma o was driving. I think for what I want it for, the 110 is the answer except I felt the 90 looks more youthful which I...

Older galvanised or newer standard chassis... Decisions..

Yeah, I saw that one on eBay too. Will probably give the person a call. The one with the galvanised chassis I talked about turned out a bit rougher than I expected, which explains the price..the bottom of the bulkhead seems to have started rotting away so I think I am going to stay away from...

Older galvanised or newer standard chassis... Decisions..

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think my point about the 190k is more to do with problems selling it in the future with the high mileage rather than worrying about it mechanically. I am sure if everything on it was done right by a careful owner then it's probably the best choice. If...

I think I am coming to that conclusion as well if the mileage wasn't so high.. Would the 190k not deter you?

Older galvanised or newer standard chassis... Decisions..

Hi guys, First post here, like many, I've wanted a defender for a long time but have not had one before. I actually work for Land Rover on the corporate side and happens to also own a Land Rover parts business somewhere in the far east so it kind of makes all the sense that I should have one...
