    Hi all

Agreed a deal for a 13 plate freelander, last land rover product I had was a while ago a P38, hopefully won't be underneath this one as much lol.

    Freelander v discovery

Hi all, looking at an 08 Disco with 84k full service history 1 owner but will need timing belt done, at least I would know the oil pump upgrade would be done or 13 freelander with 98k full service history 2 owners, both would do me but looking for advice from people who have had both. Million...

    Series 2 Advise on buying

Cheers for all the sensible reply's, this is going to be my first series Land Rover, I previously had a P38 that's why I was on the Forum, so what I get so far is to get one with either the petrol or diesel as both good but steer clear of transplants which is the direction I want to go. I will...

    Series 2 Advise on buying

Hi all, years since I have been on here, going to be looking for a series 11a later in the year when I have finished the house. Need advice on what to look for, diesel or petrol, 88 inch or 109 inch, or is it a case of take whats available, hoping to get one that has original engine if possible...

Anyone use Evans non water coolant?

Not sure about this one. Question is why the manufacturers dont use it, maybe its cost cutting like some of the crappy parts fitted (BMW DISA Vv springs to mind, mild steel brake and steering pipes). Does any one know what the likes of Mclaren and Ferrari uses, don't know if its true but does...

    4.4 or 4.2-L322 or sport

Funny how the RR gets under your skin, my P38 was the oldest car I ever had, got it as a workhorse and ended up using it all the time, no matter how good the x5 is I still look in the mirror and think idiot why did you sell it. Will test drive the S/C, 4.4 & 3.6 when I get home and make a...

    4.4 or 4.2-L322 or sport

Thanks for all your views guys, I thought it was only the TD6 that was afflicted with the dreaded gearbox failures just like the x5 3.0d, so I will be buying very carefully. Pity about the 4.2 having soft valve seats, so would be a small fortune to LPG, but it still seems the engine of choice...

Never seen one like this !

Just what I am looking for LOL, have to tell LR that they can tune their engines to give more power and 40mpg I am sure they would be interested in saving millions on development. Not my taste but everyone to their own thing I suppose. Not pretty though. Davie

    4.4 or 4.2-L322 or sport

3.6 v8, thought it had major turbo problems so have not even looked at the performance, I work away from home for 7 months of the year so that is why I can go the petrol route, tbh I do like the smoothness and power of the petrol engines. The previous post that the body has to come of the sport...

    4.4 or 4.2-L322 or sport

Budget probably around the 20K mark but could go a bit higher for the right car .Have to agree that the m62 unit is good as long as there are no problems with the intermediate shafts. On the gearbox, is it a zf or the soft gm unit thats on some x5s. Would love the 5.0 but not won the lottery yet...

    4.4 or 4.2-L322 or sport

Hi all, been a while since last on here as have had a x5 for the last 18 months, it has been great but have really missed my old P38 so its time to get the green oval back, question is L322 or sport. What is the most reliable the 4.4 or the 4.2, I presume the 4.4 is BMW and the 4.2 is Jag...

    p38 - L322

Well I had a look at a GC 3.0 overland today but it was rough for the money, got me thinking that a petrol L322 looks good value, the premium of buying the deisel would pay for a lot of fuel, does a lpg converted 4.4 have much issues if I found one. Davie :D

2.5 Diesel - Oil Cooler Pipes

Give the fittings a good spray of penetrating oil tommorow morning, evening and again on Wednesday morning. I use 10w40 semi but when I had my Omega (same engine) years ago the recommended oil was 5w40 synthetic. Davie

Pulling a Speedboat up out of the water

Why all the talk about water, my back wheels don't even touch it, reverse the trailer into the water, hitch the boat to the trailer winch and winch it on, launching is even easier, reverse in, the back of the boat is floating, lower the engine, start it and put it in astern, boat pulls of and...

Pulling a Speedboat up out of the water

No problem, I pull our 23 foot trophy up a slipway without going into low range, select D and it does not even break sweat and it would probably be about 2 tons. Davie

    fitting new abs sensors

I had that problem of not being able to connect, found the cause was a white plug behind the kick panel on the right hand side of the drivers foot well was badly corroded, it also for some reason cured the srs light. Davie

    fitting new abs sensors

Yeah tabs are on the bushes leaving about an 1/8" sticking up where the top of the sensor bottoms out or they did on mine, tbh never looked that close to see if there was another bush, just pulled the old sensors and bushes then stuck the new ones in, still seems wrong to me that 2 sizes could...
