    Freelander 1 Annoying clunck!!!

The front diff mount was changed when I had the vcu done, and I have'nt done many miles since then, but if I feel fit enough i'll have a look tomorrow. I'll also do a search for any captive nut threads, and check this out too. Thank you.

    Freelander 1 Annoying clunck!!!

Evening all, The annoying clunck started life as an annoying click. I bought the hippo two years ago,and after reading all the tales about the vcu, I removed the propshaft and ran in mondo mode for several months. I saved up and had a recon vcu fitted, this is when the annoying click was born...

    Freelander 1 Dampness maybe?

I changed the battery in my key fob a few weeks ago, and everythings working fine. I just don't get it, or is it just a freelander thing :)

    Freelander 1 Britpart caliper?

I did look at your LR specialist Nodge, but as well as the price the britpart calipers were in stock and ready to go. I'll definately post any problems with them. regarding the bleeding, i'll keep an eye on the brakes as the pads bed in, and any problems i'll bleed the whole system.

    Freelander 1 Britpart caliper?

Job done! I ended up changing both calipers, I used the britpart brand because of costs, they seemed fine to me, so I'll see how things go. The nearside lower slide pin was siezed, but I managed to remove and clean it, and used some silicone grease when I replaced it. I changed the offside first...

    Freelander 1 Dampness maybe?

No joy, same problem so fuse is back out. I read somewhere to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes, and recalibrate the window, I'll try that next.

    Freelander 1 Britpart caliper?

Surely these aftermarket brands must be to a decent standard, or the dealers would'nt sell them for fear of comebacks.

    Freelander 1 Britpart caliper?

I think I'll phone and ask what make the motor shop sells tomorrow, thanks for the replies.

    Freelander 1 Britpart caliper?

My front offside caliper is siezed, I priced a caliper with a local 4x4 centre at £38, and with a motor spares shop at £68. I think the 4x4 centre sells britpart spares, so I'm wondering are britpart calipers ok, or should I go for the more expensive unit. Any advice welcome, thank you.

    Freelander 1 Dampness maybe?

I put the fuse back in earlier so I could open rear door, then locked and unlocked doors and everything worked fine. I'll leave the fuse in and try it again tomorrow.

    Freelander 1 Dampness maybe?

I made sure the door was shut before removing the fuse. Someone told me to put some silicone grease on the glass rubbers,to stop them sticking to the glass. If it stops raining I'll do it later.

    Freelander 1 Dampness maybe?

Thanks for your replies, no I am not catching fob and keeping button pressed, and yes the latch is triggering and opening the door. If the fob is pressed once to open the drivers door, everything works ok, i.e. turn ignition on and door stays shut. Yesterday, when the fob was pressed twice to...

    Freelander 1 Dampness maybe?

When I turn the ignition on, the rear tailgate opens, could there be damp in the door lock caused by all this crap weather, or an ignition switch fault? Any advice welcome, thanks.

Freelander 1 Panic attack caused by duff battery!!!!

I don't know if its related to the problem I had, but a few days ago, the rear window had gone down on its own during the night. Lucky there was no rain about.

Freelander 1 Refit propshaft or not?

Re-fit the prop. I had my hippo in mondo mode for a while, but when I put the prop back on I could feel the car gripping the road, it feels a lot safer to me, so four wheel drive every time!!

Freelander 1 Panic attack caused by duff battery!!!!

My hippo has always started first turn of the key, in all winds and weather since I've had it, and also today, but when I went to drive off the engine cut out, and wouldn't start back up, I had lights on the dashboard flickering on and off but no power to turn the engine over. A mechanic friend...

    clicking noise

I have the same clicking noise from the rear when I change gear too, it happens when I press the throttle after gear change, it seems like there's a bit of slack being taken up somewhere if that makes any sense.

    diff oil leak

OK thank you, I'll keep an eye on it.

    diff oil leak

Thanks for quick reply. Could the leak now stop because of the correct oil level, or could the oil seal be damaged?

    diff oil leak

I noticed some oil leaking from the diff front seal, so I thought I would check the oil level just in case. I removed the filler plug and a fair bit of oil ran out, so I jacked the rear end up for a bit more room, and put the filler plug back in. Could too much oil in the diff cause a leak?
