Stud bolt problem on transmission case

Thanks James, I'll let you know how I get on. I've gone ahead and ordered the same stuff by Loctite. I can get a helicoil in the hole but it slips if I apply too much pressure so I'm hoping that by using a combination of both, I'll be able to solve the problem.

Stud bolt problem on transmission case

OK so I managed to restore 3 of the 4 holes using the helicoil kit but the 4th hole is too messed up even for the helicoil kit (the hole is far too big and also tapers off as it was the hole where the wood screw was used). Has anyone tried ever using thread repair compound? It appears to be the...

Stud bolt problem on transmission case

The seal on my transmission case cover looked a real mess so I decided to give it an overhaul. I think I have now found what is causing the problem. Looks like someone has totally mucked up two of the holes so it's not possible to fit new stud bolts. I presume that my best option is to re-use...

Series 3 seatbelts: where are yours?

Thanks guys for sharing. I’m still not 100% decided on a solution; waiting for my blacksmith friend to get back from his hols and I’ll probably see if he can make some brackets for me

Series 3 seatbelts: where are yours?

Looking to install a pair of inertia seatbelts on my 88’ hard top. Where have you put yours? It would be great to see photos of the possible solutions.

LZ international Rescue Map-Everything you needed to know

Hi, I’m no longer in Rovigo. I’m still in Italy but now located near Chiavari in the province of Genova. I have also upgraded from a cup of tea to tools in inches and centimeters. Can you update my location on the map?

    Italian 88 Series III - Should I or Shouln't I?

Thanks guys for the pictures and for helping me understand what the issue is. I've been really busy all summer with my mini B&B and haven't had time to work of the landy much (and now it's porcini picking season so it'll have to wait a tad longer). I managed to get all the bolts off the prop...

    Italian 88 Series III - Should I or Shouln't I?

Another question... Is dismantling the wipers on the 88 the same as dismantling them on a Defender? I haven't looked at them properly yet. Do I have to get them off with an Allen key?

    Italian 88 Series III - Should I or Shouln't I?

OK I haven't taken this job any further because the heads on the nuts are completely rounded and impossible to budge. I can't see how to get them off. Any advice on this one very welcome.

Got the wiring out and making progress on removing stuff from the bulkhead. Any advice on how to get the rear prop shaft off?

How to mend a broken ratchet?

OK, I'll buy new ones, I was hoping that mending them would be straightforward. They do have sentimental value but I don't mind letting them go seeing as they have had their innings :) Dad probably kept them with a view to fixing them. At least I've learnt how a ratchet works! Thanks
