just bought a td4 53plate with rocker cover gasket leak.

Hi Mick Unfortunately, it doesn't look like a DIY job. Had one done and it cost me 1267€. However, it had a HG done, exhaust manifold gaskets, new screws, etc. The part itself costed 326,67€. You can see an exploded view here Cheers

    Different brake light switches

Had to replace brake switch on mine too. No dash lights, though:confused: Try this: Land Range Rover Discovery Genuine OEM Factory brake Switch

Do you regret buying a Freelander?

Sometimes I do regret it, but just love to drive it :) Definitely would consider another one. A facelift model or a FL2.

    Tailgate niggle

Mine does the same. Prob the latch doesn't open. I just press the handle again until I hear it unlock and then close again.

What have you done to your Landie today.

Tried to fix radio display - no joy, actually made it worst  Put the sunroof glass back in place after removing huge amount of rust and painting it yesterday.

    Door cable

I've been having problems with the passenger door (LHD). You had to pull the handle 3 or four times before it finally opened  Yesterday I took the door card and couldn't see what was wrong with it. I printed the RAVE pages and was about to take the door mechanism apart when I...

    Freelander beeping

Yeah, I agree with Credit. Doing a search isn't always easy since you have to know what you're looking for in the first place. Sometimes you may lack the words to describe the problem (although "beep" is pretty straightforward :D) And yes:

Is this my Starter Motor or Immobiliser do you think?

Yep. Sounds like starter motor, probably needs the solenoid thingy And Fanatic's right regarding the beeping. Cheers

    TD4 using coolant...

You should check the usual: Pipes and expansion tank for cracks (also the tank cap) I suffered (literally) from the same problem for over a year (only used 1 litre of coolant, though). Last week changed the water pump and everything seems to be ok (knock on wood:rolleyes:). Maybe...

    Front Brake Gruuumble..in the jungle!

Got the exact same problem with an auto 2001 TD4. The explanation given by a mechanic was that - since it was an auto - when the car is coming to a stop, the engine pushes forward, thus activating the ABS. Not really a problem, since it always stops on time :) Yes, and what the fook is...

    Losing power at 70

:welcome2: Hi. I suppose you've already gonne through the sticky at the top? No change after fuel pump change then. If it stalls, it might be a good idea to search the forum for "hot start". Be patient, someone more savvy in the ways of the freelander will come along :)

Might be buying a Freelander ...

Hi! I have an Auto 2001 TD4. A few problems due to some previous owner and dodgy mechanics' abuse. However it drives great and has never let me down :) I also have a Golden Retriever and it fits well in the boot. It can lie down, have its water bowl there, etc. Can't imagine two Labs...

    Oil and diesel on injectors

:eek:Hello again! After the service in Januay, the mechanic had the car running for about 200 kms and the oil leak didn't appear again. Good news? Not really... Since I got the car back I was very careful in checking the oil and coolant levels as well as seeing if there was more oil over...

    Worn tyres

Thanks for your sound advice Chaser and Blippie:)

    Worn tyres

Thanks Blippie! Seems like a good idea. I'll just wait until the front tyres wear a bit more, then fit new ones to the rear. I'm just worried about possible consequences for the transmission. The present difference in wear between front and rear is about 3mm.

    Worn tyres

Yeah. But at least it was better than my experiences (Freelander related) with non-LR "specialists".

    Worn tyres

Hello everyone! I've noticed that my front tyres are thiner than the rear ones (which look almost new) I've been thinking of rotating, but here's the problem: Rave manual says to fit new tyres always to the rear. I've asked a mechanic (LR specialist?) and the guy says to fit newest tyres...

    what is that pipe for!

Oh and replying to "what is that pipe for?" with fbh is a rather sensitive answer imho. It could have been much, much worse...
