I've been having problems with the passenger door (LHD). You had to pull the handle 3 or four times before it finally opened 
Yesterday I took the door card and couldn't see what was wrong with it. I printed the RAVE pages and was about to take the door mechanism apart when I remembered to simply pull the cable. As I suspected it there was considerable slack.
What I did:
Went to the kitchen and found a bottle cork. Put it under the cable with some aluminium tape (no duct tape!). And voilá
Works perfectly now. In portuguese we call it "desenrascar"
